9" tongs
I got this set of 9" kitchen tongs, which comes with 12 pairs of tongs! They feel very sturdy and I like the feel of the blue handle, which is not too smooth so it has a good grip. These are super easy to clean as they are dishwasher safe and all one piece. There's no hinge or spring, so you don't have to worry about the spring rusting (like my last pair of tongs did). The only issue I have with being springless is that it did put a little bit of strain on my wrist to hold these "closed" while trying to sear the edges of a piece of steak, since I was trying to hold the steak on end for a few minutes at a time. There is also no lock feature on these, so they are just open in the drawer, but at least they nest well with each other.

Perfect: Durable enough for the grill and dishwasher, nice enough for the table.
New Star Foodservice 534583 9-Inch Utility Spring Tongs: these are EXCELLENT. The vinyl coating makes them comfortable to use. The fluted "claws" make them hold food securely, so you won't drop that steak into the grill. The "claws" and a couple of inches above them are metal, so they hold up to heat, so you can use them for grilling or any other high-heat use. The length is perfect to be able to use them for cooking and serving. (Yes, a little longer would be perfect for cooking, and a little shorter would be perfect for serving, but 9 inches is the perfect compromise, being close enough to perfect for both.) They are nice enough to use at home, even on the table for entertaining: they have even been on our table along with the Royal Dalton and Waterford (it wants a more dignified color for that, and the blue works nicely). And because they do not have a mechanical hinge but just an integral spring (i.e., a springy bend), and it's a high-quality not-too-soft vinyl coating, they come out of the dishwasher perfectly. I expect they will last quite a long time.TL;DR: everything you want, nothing you don't. Aesthetic and functional.

Reviewing: New Star Foodservice 534583 9-Inch Utility Spring Tongs, Stainless Steel, Vinyl Coated, Set of 12, BlueI love these tongs. They are my new favorite. I need the short tongs the most, but will probably want to get these in 12”-15” sizes as well. I like absolutely everything about these tongs, and I especially like how many you get; now I will not have to stop in the middle of preparing something just to clean utensils (well, at least not tongs).The spring-hinge design is easy to clean and the jaws of the tongs always line up perfectly. These are the sturdiest tongs I own, and my go-to whether I’m trying to stuff a frozen brisket half into a sous-vide bag, or disassemble a Costco chicken. The scalloped edges grip meat reliably. I prefer using these tongs to a carving fork under most circumstances.Pros: Simple, durable, very easy to clean, nowhere for filth or contaminants to hide. Works like a champ. Rubberized handles provide a positive grip and prevent hands from getting too hot or too cold. Concave jaws can be used to spoon meat juices and sauces (for instance, when plating chicken piccata). At something like $2 each, these are an incredible value in restaurant-quality equipment.Cons: I’m sure there’s a temperature that’s too hot for these grips, but it’s not mentioned anywhere. Apparently that number is higher than 168F, as my dishwasher routinely gets that hot. I’m sure I’ll discover a temperature where it melts somewhere in the course of my grilling, but I doubt it will change my impression of these tongs much. These things are wonderful.
