Flimsy!

Seemed great at first. Used half a dozen times before an apple broke the weld and it came apart like a cheap suit. Sliced my thumb on the way up. I threw the entire pile of junk in the trash.Never again. Buyer beware.

Sturdy apple slicer

This is one of the better apple slicers I've used, and as such I have 3. It has nice, heavy, stainless steel construction that makes it comfortable to grip. The weight is really nice an actually helps you to cut through the apple. It's large enough too that it should fit *most* but not all apples. We grow apples and while this fits most of the ones we grow, some larger apples get stuck and are more likely to break it. It also works great with pears too so long as they aren't too mushy.My main gripes with it have to do with how the blades are anchored and also the blades themselves. To begin, the blades seem to just be glued to the centered ring blade instead of soldered. I've had one so far break and it wasn't even during use with a hard to slice apple- it was slicing nicely until it just popped out. The whole blade complex became detached from the handle part and was stuck in the apple (which was difficult to get out). This keeps me from giving this slicer a full 5 stars even though it's really nice and a good price.The other issue with it is more minor. It often won't slice through the skin on the bottom, which means all the apple slices will be slightly connected. They're easy to rip apart though, even if they don't have as nice of an appearance. This problem is very, very minor though and wouldn't affect my rating.Overall, this is a nice apple slicer. It's heavy and comfortable to use, and it will save a lot of time. I use it just for eating apples and also for slicing apples for apple pie. The slices will be a bit thick for pie since it cuts the apple into 6 slices, but since I like big chunks of fruit in my pies that's fine by me. As I mentioned, I currently have 3 of these and I've purchased 4 (as I mentioned, one broke). I wish the blades were soldered better so they wouldn't have that issue.

Awesomeness..

This thing is heavy duty and awesome. It's solid and has teeth on the core remover to go through the apple with ease. My last apple slicer had plastic handles and broke not too long after using it. About 2 weeks. I'm so glad I got this. It's amazing and it's pretty. Happy customer! I will be eating more apples now. I also use this to cut up apples for my dogs.
