Nice cutting board, but maker should state that it's reversible.
After having our old polypropylene cutting board for so long I'm embarrassed to say, I decided to buy a new one. This is a nice cutting board. It's a nice size, not too big, not too small (16" x 11"). The grips along the edge keep the board from moving on the counter, although I really didn't have a problem with my other cutting board without the grips. Board is two sided, one side has "trenches" which are raised lines on the board that are supposed to capture juices on the board while cutting (?). These trenches make it difficult to make a clean cut since the knife can't hit the bottom of the board because the trenches keep it from doing so. Before writing the review I had to search to see it the board was reversible or not and there isn't really anything specifying that. There is one picture that shows "for fruits" and "for meats" but you have to look closely to see if one side is grooved or not. So it turns out the board IS reversible. There's also what they call a "perimeter juice groove" (which I think is a hilariously technical name) to catch any juice that may drain off to the sides. The other side is smooth for cutting things that don't have a lot of juice. There is a little knife sharpener on the edge, although I don't know how effective it is. And there's a hole in the corner to hang up if you choose. All in all it's a nice little cutting board.
