These tongs joined our household as a replacement for salad tongs that died at the hands of our over use. We use our salad tongs for everything.As other reviewers have said, the tongs were a little stiff when we first got them. They have since loosened and are perfect.They wash easily on the dishwasher. Love the tongs. I expect these will last a long time, even at our house.
They are reasonably sturdy, and for the price, well made. The handle is flat, look carefully at the picture, and not comfortable to use. A rounded handle would make them much nicer. I hoped to use them on a buffet table, but they are not really suitable. They can be used for utilitarian purposes.
I had recently bought smaller Norpro tongs which I love so felt secure in ordering. These were a real disappointment. They are unduly heavy, clumsy, sharp edged. Would not dream of putting them on a buffet and they're even much too uncomfortable to use when cooking. I will not bother returning but they are being put aside immediately for the next Cub Scout fundraising yard sale.
I was supposed to give it for a gift but misunderstood my daughter in law. She wants a small set to serve relishes. So, this set of tongs will be regifted for someone else. It seems to be well made and I am sure it will be used for many years.
These Norpro Stainless Steel Salad Tongs sounded good in the description, but the actual product seems different. The handles are made of flat steel, and a person would assume that they are finished and rounded where the fingers and thumb go through. However, they are not, and those openings have sharp edges when considering using them for any long term use. Any weight lifted with those tongs would put a lot of pressure on a very small area of the hand.We have other Norpro products that are great, but this is not one of them.
These are very nice, very functional and the wife likes them. I wish they would separate like other traditional salad tongs, but these ones are connected at a pivot point in the middle. They definitely are not made cheaply and will last a long time.
After breaking my plastic tongs, I bought these and they work great! They are sturdy, clean up nicely in the dishwasher, and grasp nice portions of salad or whatever foods you are serving. A little pricey, but well worth the money.
