THE BEST hot sandwiches!
Yes it has it's flaws, especially if you are using it on a home stove, but the results are fantastic. We had a much cheaper (aluminium) one when I was a kid and I remember coming home from school for lunch. I'd make myself all maner of "pies".It hadn't even crossed my mind in the ensuing decades that these things still existed, but once I saw this I had to have it!Love it! I made three sandwiches the day it arrived! I did make a mess with one due to poor planning on my part - too much cheese which oozed out and all over the stove - but with some practice and experimenting I'm looking forward a lot of good snacks and meals out of this!Think I'll go make a Peanut Butter and Banana pie for a snack! Or maybe some cream cheese and strawberry jam for a sweet treat!

Great pie irons
These pie irons are very well made. I ordered 4 of these. Every one arrived in excellent shape, no bent handles or unglued wood as some said. The irons interlocked/closed very well. Handles were not screwed in tight, which I appreciated, as I washed them and seasoned them before using the first time. Very happy with these.

Great so far for first Fire Pit Weekend
Never really used these before. Mostly a house warming gift. We were just doing standard campfire food and some random experiments. We had off brand pam to spray them down with. Made moon pies, smores, breakfast sausage mcmuffin, potato hash and stuff. All turned out great, got the outeside of stuff to crisp. No broken/shattered bits after a few days of light - medium use on the fire.Handles seemed to of come a bit unscrewed from the cast iron plates but that was day one and we gave them a few good twists to tighten them up and didn't have issue after that.Has an iron pin at the top to hold the opposing plates in place, not sure if it should be considered loose or if its standard (again first time actually using pie iron). Doesn't form super tight seal when closed up, though doubt it is suppose to. Does have a little hook midway down the shafts that helps hold them together.

It works! Found it on Amazon.com.
We are very happy with our Pie Iron. We first saw one when we were sitting around a camp fire with another camper who had one. We've tried cooking several different things using raw biscuit and pie dough and the standard bread slices. So far, the bread slices work best because the pie dough tears up when we try to place it on the hot iron. The biscuit dough is also difficult to handle and easy to get too thick, but we are still working on that one. It's fun to experiment. We do use liquid butter to squeeze into each round before putting the bread slices in. Also, we like this style because the two sides are ATTACHED and do not come apart. It's easier to handle because of that.

handle broke the first time we used it
The actual pie iron part is good quality. Terrible handles though. One of them broke the very first time we used it. And, the little metal thing that holds the thing together while cooking fell off (since there was no wood handle on one side) so now it's pretty much useless. Buy the Rome brand instead. I've had 4 of those for years and they are still in great shape!
