Great unit, easy to clean, heats FAST, works with MOST of my cookware, no red ring-light

I just got it and tried it the first time. I made a quick veggie quiche, and it was very easy to use, and easy to clean. I love that it has a built-in shut-off timer, and several other safety features. You can set it's power level in watts, or by temperature. It has a panel lock (tap the button to activate, hold down for several seconds to unlock) which is a nice safety feature, and makes it easier to clean the button panel.Unfortunately it won't work with my 13cm-diameter "induction compatible" pot (a little too small?), but it works fine with my bigger induction-friendly pan, and my induction-friendly frying pan. It has a built-in fan on the bottom that cycles on as needed, and is relatively quiet. The flat, flush top surface is easy to wipe clean with a damp towel. The manual warns against sitting the unit on top of a steel surface, but aluminum should probably be okay. I put some water in my frying pan as a test and it heats up FAST, since your pan itself IS the radiative surface, not the glass top.Came well-packaged. Uses standard 15 amp 3-prong outlet. Effortless to setup- just plug it in.This is my first experience with an induction cooktop, and overall, I'm pretty happy so far. It has a small indicator to remind you that the glass top might be hot (heated from contact with your pot), but I kinda wish it had a big red ring light like some other units have. The two "burners" have totally separate control panels, so you can individually control their separate timers, panel locks, etc.My wattmeter shows the unit draws zero watts when shutdown, or 0.40 watts (which is basically nothing) if shutdown with both panels in lock mode.

Great Induction Cooktop

This induction cooktop works perfectly and is very easy to use. It heats up quickly and cooks food evenly, which saves a lot of time compared to a regular stove. The glass surface looks modern and is very easy to clean after cooking.

Works Well and Easy to Use

I bought this to use because I hate my glass-top electric stove and don’t have natural or propane gas to install a gas stove. It’s very responsive like a gas stove and brings fluids to a boil quickly. When turned off, the surface cools down much faster than my glass-top stove. I did have to buy a few new pots and pans that work with induction cooking, but that’s ok because they also work on other types of stoves. If you’re not sure if you want buy a full-size induction stove, a portable unit like this is a great way to get through a short learning curve.

Good, not great, but we will keep it

This OMEO cooktop looks and feels well built and at 1800-Watts it performs fine. When using the "Temperature" option it holds the set temper perfectly within 1-degree-F. This is our first foray with induction heating and we love the concept. But, I now know there are critical questions to be asked before a purchase. Most importantly for us, what are the "steps" for temperature settings? This cooktop has has very large steps for each temperature setting. There only 10-steps and I thought that would be OK as we wanted this for slow cooking. But the "steps" are huge as it goes from 160-F to 240-F in a single step so a Simmer is really not possible. The next issue is whether it saves the last settings for next time. Since we will be only using it for slow cooking, having to set the temperature each time is a bit of a pain. Finally, it needs a "Start/Stop" button. This one starts as soon as you press the "Menu" button and you cannot preset the temperature or Watts before pressing "Menu." It always starts up at 1200-Watts and you have to race to get it back to where you want it. I think a "Start" button is mandatory and "Pause" button would be good. If you want to lift the pan and shake stuff it very quickly goes to an error code, "no pan" and if you take too long to get it back on the top, it shuts off.I like the way the it heats up water really fast so instead of returning it, I will move it to the garage for making tea etc.I have ordered a Nuwave cooktop with 51-steps in 10-F increments in temperature. And, it appears to have a Program mode allowing me to define and save multiple steps like 5-minutes at maximum to boil, then 40-minutes at 210 to Simmer. It is only 1500-Watts compared to OMEO 1800 Watts and it costs more, but for the extra bucks, it will provide the functions we need.Other than the above personal preference issues, the OMEO is a good cooktop.
