These Onion and Avocado Savers Are Unique and Useful
I received this set of four onion storage and avocado savers. They came in four colors, green, pink, purple, and yellow. Each keeper is round and has two parts, a top and a bottom. The outer rims are made of durable plastic, but the insides of the keepers are made of a thin stretchy, silicone material. They are 5 inches in diameter and have cute decorative features of an eye, two bumps, and a fin on the rims so that they look like little fish. There is also a strap for hanging each. The keepers twist open and closed, which I needed to figure out because there was no indication of how to open them. I did a trial where I put a half of an apple inside the keeper one morning (see my first picture) and then checked it the next morning. There was only little oxidation (see my second picture), although the apple did not look quite as fresh as when I first put it in. However, it turned out much better than if I had just put the apple half in a regular container with a lid on it. I think these keepers solve the problem of what to do with a slice or half of a fruit or vegetable that needs to be preserved overnight or for a few days. I think this is a worthwhile product for use in your own kitchen or for gifting to a friend or relative that likes to work with food.
