They grip the jars well, whether wide mouth or standard, even holding on to quarts. The last lifter I had required two hands because the top handles were too far apart, but this design leaves one hand free to put under the jar. They just work.

I recently started canning again and while I was in the process, I became a bit frustrated by my jar tongs, which had been passed down to me from my mother. The part that grips the jars was too narrow and removing hot jars from the canner was a bit scary, so I ordered these tongs. SO much better! The handle part is really easy to grasp and it's super easy to manipulate these tongs. The gripper end does a fantastic job of holding the jar securely -- I wasn't worried that the jar would slip out of the tongs. They make canning much safer! They clean up well and are well made so I believe they will get passed down to my kids, just like my mother did with hers.
Looks narrower than in the picture, but worked perfectly fine on my quart jars.
Perfect for small-scale canning! These tongs make it easy to lift jars safely out of hot water. They have a secure grip, feel sturdy, and are the perfect size for small-batch canning.
These have been great!! Easy to use, the handles are nice for grip when using them to put jars in and out of hot water for canning. So far I have only used them for the 16oz Ball mason jars for canning. The rubber ends grip the jars with no issues. Seem well made so far and well worth the money!
These tongs grip well and are the best I’ve used. Highly recommend them.
