So Far So Good
I just got this and sealed something to test it, so I can’t comment on long term use, but it is very nice quality and I have no reason to doubt that it will work well in the long run. The plastic is nice and thick — definitely thicker than the other generic brands I’ve tried (I’ve tried 4-5 other brands). It feels like it is even a little thicker than the Foodsaver rolls, but not so thick that it interferes with the way the product works. The cutter works well as long as you hold the plastic firmly and run the cutter from left to right (I did right to left the first time since the Foodsaver cutter works equally well both ways, but this cutter gave me a jagged edge and didn’t cut well when going right to left). I love that this company gives you a bargain product that addresses the main complaint there is against the other generic rolls — they don’t fit in the storage hole in the machine. In this product you can choose the roll in a box with a cutter, which is perfect for the 8” rolls that I use less often, or 25 foot rolls that they say fit in the Foodsaver. I’ve ordered that product in the 11” size, but haven’t received it yet, but assuming it fits like they claim, it’s a perfect option for the more commonly used size roll. The rolls also have the white write on areas along the side of the roll just like Foodsaver roll does (it even seems a little bigger than the area on the Foodsaver rolls, so it’s easier to write on), which I’ve never seen on another generic roll (I’ve been using freezer tape mark them). These are a little more expensive than a lot of the generic rolls, but they would be worth the extra cost just on the quality of the plastic alone, but when you consider the other nice features they have they are a bargain and unless something goes horribly wrong with them after they’ve been sealed form a while this is the only brand rolls for my Foodsaver that I’ll use in the future. The only question is if the cutter will last long enough to cut the whole 100’ roll — it seems to be pretty sturdy and sharp, so hopefully it will work well for the whole role.
