If you are planning a romantic dinner or need a small cast-iron dutch oven that can go from stove to table, this would be a fantastic addition to your cookware collection. It would also be a very useful wedding or bridal shower gift (and is durable enough to last longer than many marriages). It’s a very attractive heart-shaped two-quart cast iron dutch oven that is the perfect size for one or two people. It’s heavy enough to hold heat very well and fully enameled, inside, and outside. I appreciate that the lid is cleverly designed to drip any condensed steam back into the dish as it cooks. The screw holding the handle on is also completely covered, so you’ll never have to deal with rust on the inside of your dutch oven. It was hard to choose between the three colors (red, pink, and white), but I chose the red version since it works best for multiple holidays and I'm happy with the beautiful enameled color.My main purpose for this is to bake bread since I love serving hot, freshly-baked bread with dinner. A 12-inch parchment circle fits perfectly inside. But it’s also just right for roasting a small cut of meat or a few chicken pieces. I also plan to use it for side-dishes when I prepare larger holiday dinners since the small size means it will fit into my oven along with other casseroles and pans. Since I have a glass-top range, I generally limit it to oven use but I made a small pot of stove-top soup in it last night and it worked beautifully - dinner for two people and two hungry dogs. And, it cleans easily. A squirt of soap and a quick rinse made short work of post-dinner cleanup.Included in the box is a silicone hot pad, two cute pot holders that are just big enough to grab the handles from a hot oven, a cleaning sponge, and a recipe book with unusual and delicious recipes. I will be trying quite a few of them since they are new to me (and I have an extensive cookbook collection). Overall, this is an outstanding value for the low cost.
