Short version: Excellent. Buy with confidence.
So I've owned this spinner for 3 years. I have a large garden and this spinners cleaned about 300 heads of lettuce, pounds of various herbs, lots of leafy greens like spinach, beet, sweet potato, and amaranth. The ad claims it will stop on a dime but it's more like 8 dimes but still good. I'm not particularly gentle with it either. Gardeners know the challenge of processing food peak season; the faster the better. It did fail after the 2nd year. Why 5 stars then? You can take it apart. I simply twisted the top from the center plunger, realigned a spring, reset a rod, and reassembled it. Quick and easy. The best thing about this? It seals. You can put any food in this thing and it will keep it as fresh as the day you put it in. Noticeably longer than in the fridge crisper..by weeks. It's not the biggest sized spinner you can get, but it's close and does a good job. The ad also mentions using it as a serving bowl and I imagine if you're not putting so much food through it it will still look good, but after 3 years the inner basket has rubbed the bowl edge (over-filled it probably too many times) and made marks on the outer bowl. Also, while it was presentable enough for a serving bowl, it has a center spike that the inner basket sets and spins on. Anyone not familiar with it being there might snag the spike while trying to get their salad and risk dumping it or knocking it around. Should this ever fail I wouldn't hesitate buying it again.

Easy to use; gets the job done; easy clean up
First time user of a salad spinner, and think I'll be eating more salads!Previously I gave up on rinsing my romaine, as invariably I'd end up with soggy lettuce, even after letting the washed product sit in a colander for an extended period. Seeing as how I know that not washing produce prior to consumption is not recommended, I invested in a salad spinner. This spinner is a breeze (and fun!) to use, and found that it removes enough of the water that the end product is crisp lettuce. Clean up is easy (I exclusively hand wash items like this). The large bowl is a nice feature, though lost on me, as I will not store, nor serve, my salad in/from plastic (I've been transitioning to glass for food storage). It's larger than what I need (single guy that makes one salad at a time - equivalent to a "standard" salad serving for two), but it actually ended up costing LESS than the smaller version, and it fits well enough in my cabinet, so the larger-than-necessary size is a non-issue.

Bought this for drying hand washed undies (didn't work)...
(EDIT: my experiment with spinning clothing didn't work, too slow, too much effort, but this remains a high quality product) I purchased this 3qt spinner for drying my hand washed wool socks and underwear. Wool underwear is tough in certain ways and is an investment, but must be hand washed for longevity and can not be wrung out while wet, and so spinning them dry gently is important. The easiest way to manage this hand washing is to not build up a load, but to wash each set of underwear/t-shirt/socks daily while showering, and leaving them to dry while changing into a fresh set. This spinner is the perfect size and the basket feels plenty strong enough/well enough built to handle spinning damp, light weight clothing (one item at a time), and almost over-built for spinning lettuce. It should last a long time if not dropped, though I've had mixed experience with polycarbonate surviving even a short fall. This 3qt model is nicely small for storage, yet ample enough to use for hand washing and draining a full days set of underwear/t-shirt/socks then spinning them dry one item (2socks) at a time. For ladies considering this for hand washing bras you may need to consider the 6qt model depending on cup size, in part due to the intrusion of the pump mechanism into the basket space.

Great product - but SMALL
Works great, but remember, this is a SMALL spinner. Good for one, maybe salads for two.

Salad spinner is exactly as described, works well for my summer garden lettuce and spinach. Not sure how long it will last but so far I’m pleased.
