Great Item

I needed a cheese cutter for Velveeta cheese, knives just squish it, so I went looking for a wire cutter. I remember using one as a child, but I never really needed one until now because I either used hard cheeses or I cube the soft cheeses. The reviews on most of the cutters that I looked at were all iffy, but reading the negative comments I had to ask the question about what type of cheese they were using. Wire cheese cutter are for soft and semi-soft cheeses only. I liked this one because it came with 2 extra wires and I liked the adjustable feature of it so I can cut thin or thick. I really like this cutter, it met my hopes for it. It isn't going to get daily usage because I like the harder cheeses like cheddar and montery jack and I know better than use a wire cutter on those.

Not as good as the old ones

This is better than the cheap ones walmart sells, but not by much. It is not stainless. Only the wire and roller guide are stainless. The body and handle are some sort of zinc alloy, that will turn black if you put it in the dishwasher. The adjustable roller guide still wiggles side to side making for uneven slices, no matter how much you tighten the knob, so you have to hold it with your thumb during use. The old ones from when I was a kid were also not stainless, just aluminum. But they managed to stay as you set them. And slice evenly. Not thrilled but haven't found a better one yet.
