Cheap not worth a dime.
I'll just start out by saying that this product works in some ways... but I don't think it's worth $9.It's a simple plastic product that you can use to core large peppers, with a smaller one that goes on the inside of it; and you can use either the big one, or the small one. You could also use this to core things like apples or similar fruits or vegetables with cores, if you want to. It's a simple design that takes a bit of learning and turning with your hands, but it can be used to remove the core from apples and peppers within a few seconds once you learn how to use it. And to be completely fair, it is pretty well made, the plastic is well shaped and smooth (but sharp where it needs to be).As for downsides, this doesn't really do what I wanted, which is serving as a corer for peppers smaller than jalapenos that I grow (ghost pepper and monkey-face peppers). The small corer is too large for them, and it seems like it works well for large jalapenos, but it isn't useful for anything smaller than that. Additionally, you really need to twist it a lot for large peppers, the teeth on the large portion are quite long and if you don't do it very carefully, you'll just split the pepper down the side instead of coring the pepper, which is easy to accidentally do.Overall, I don't know if I'd recommend this in general unless you're regularly coring specifically Jalapenos.* I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis.* I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review.* I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product.* I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable.* If I get multiple of something it's because I regularly use and need both of them.* And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.
I use a lot of bell peppers and jalapeños when cooking so I was excited to see if this would speed up my prep time. It's a great idea for a kitchen gadget but it needs to be sharper. The issue I had with it is when coring bell peppers or jalapenos when you press it into the top of the pepper and turn it, it just isn't sharp enough and it ends up splitting the pepper down the side. So if your trying to keep the pepper intact, for say stuffed peppers it really won't work for this. I tried multiple times in multiple ways but it split each and every pepper I tried it with. The other thing is it leaves a lot of the seeds behind. So for say normal prep of a bell pepper for a salad it's faster just to use a knife and chop the ends off slit the side and slice out the core with all the seeds intact. Then dice it.Overall I think this would be great for stuffed peppers but it would have to be a lot sharper than it is so it doesn't just crush and tear the pepper.
