This was exactly what my wife was looking for on Amazon. Sturdy, solid, and looks great placements where we can put plates while protecting the table. Thickness was very good and the size is perfect.
Love it, quality and style matches perfectly with my old one and my liner
I like bamboo placemats, I wanted to add another design to my rotation. This set has backing material, and trim around the border, which I prefer, to avoid scratches on the table. The only thing to be aware of is that the bamboo slats are a little larger than 1/2". That took a little getting used to as my other bamboo placemats have slats that are closer to 1/4". But overall they are nice, lay flat, and sturdy.
I've been using these placemats for several years - first bought them at BBandB. Last couple replacements I've gotten through Amazon. The actual size seems to be a little less than consistent - not by much but they've seemed generally to get a little smaller. As well, the quality/workmanship seems to be slacking. In this latest purchase the seems are a little messy, some loose thread ends, and the edging around each placement isn't as nicely finished as they've been in the past. They're not the best to clean and that's mainly why I have to replace them - they get dirty enough that the look worn and old. Brand new they're nice! I have a matching table runner that seems to stay cleaner so, as long as that's hanging on I'll keep replacing the mats. Oh, price has gone up a bit too - before they'd been just below $20 for four, now nearly $25. Hmmm.....
These are really awesome place mats. My only complaint is that they arrive folded, and it takes bloody forever for them to flatten out on the table. Otherwise, I feel that they are high-quality and have the look of that. I've found that they wipe off with a damp cloth easily. Some people complained about food and liquids dripping through the weave onto the table. My table is finished in a protective coating, so this isn't a problem for me. If you have kids--which many of us do--you might be better off with cheap vinyl place mats for every day and using these for when you're serving guests. I personally love them and do not regret the purchase. They have just the eye appeal that I was wanting. Very rich. Don't look cheap.
Perfect match to my table decor
We were so happy to be able to find these place mats, as we had lost our original ones in a move... they are lost somewhere in the boxes! These mats are so neat looking and really easy to wipe down to keep clean. You can roll them up or fold them to store them. Either way they are so easy to store! And their design looks so good when you set your table!
