Great quality for the price

These look better than expected. I wanted something that blended color-wise with the not so high-end table and chairs without looking tacky and these fit the bill. I like that it has a textured and multi-tone look also. Then only con (I know this from the previous mats from elsewhere) is the porous nature allows spills and grease to go through onto the table. Also these can be a bit hard to clean if they get stained because of the way it's threaded. Again this applies to all table mats made this way, not specific to only this one. But if you're not messy, these look great. And if you are there affordable enough to buy a new set every year or so

Not for messy eaters on a bare table

First of all, I love the style of these placemats. The color is somewhere between beige and brushed bronze. They are silky-shiny, and the border around each tablecloth adds a bit of sophistication. The size is perfect for a family dinner place setting. The placemats are fairly thick and offer some heat protection to the table. Another thing I like about these placemats is that they look similar to cloth while being very washable.However, these placemats are not watertight. The open weave allows liquid to seep through. I had expected vinyl placemats to hold water because, if I weren't looking for something practical and easy to clean to protect my table from spills, I'd get real cloth placemats.Basically, if you are expecting young, old, tired, tipsy, or otherwise messy eaters, these placemats are not enough to protect a bare wood table. You'd need to add a tablecloth, and you might need to wash the tablecloth after the meal if anyone should spill.
