Leaf it or not
These are really very nice and very versatile. Used them for both as as a trinket and for placemats. Worth it.

Mrs Aloha Friday loves straw placemats and has quite a few. She even has some in the shape of turtles she put on our sunroom wall! But these are the first leaves she's ever had, and she got so excited, she yanked them out of the package so fast it almost made her glasses fall off! LOLWe have a small kitchen nook with a 30" table for two. Rectangular placemats don't fit, so she uses rounds, but they can't be in the 15" realm or they tend to overlap or push each other, so small works best for us. This may not be the case for everyone, so do your research and measure out what you need. Mrs AF took a lot of photos for you to help. She used large 10" dinner plates and smaller 7" luncheon plates to give you an idea of what fits.In addition to using these as placemats though, they can be used as trivets for hot pots or as in our case, something to protect our butcher block countertops. We have an oil wax on them, but Mrs AF likes to take extra measures like putting gallons of milk and other items that condensate out of the fridge on a protective surface. She rotates a big selection of placemats to do the job, and now the leaves have entered the rotation! They have instantly classed up the joint. ;o)They're thick, tightly woven, and there's absolutely nothing sloppy or low quality about them. The stitching is tight and uniform, holding the pattern together by using extra stitching on the back sides. That means they aren't reversible, but we'll put up with that because they're so great. Expect color variations in natural items like these. The same person isn't likely to create your entire set of 6 from the same batch of corn husks. That's the beauty of handcrafted items. There are variations in tones in our set, from pale ivory to a sage green, to a warm, rusty tan. If you prefer uniformity, this is probably not your best bet, although they take great care in their quality control from what we can see.If you are sensitive to smells, these smell like clean, dried straw. It's not a bad smell, but it's there and some people struggle with headaches, etc., from strong odors. We're fortunate not to have issues with this and love it. It also dissipated quickly.
These placemats are lovely. They are thick and well woven. The colors are as pictured. I'm mostly using them under pots around the kitchen and they make for great decoration too. One just sits on my coffee table as an oversized coaster. If I were to use them as placemats strictly, I might want something larger to fit a glass on as well, but they are still great for just a plate and utensils. They are very functional, easy to keep clean and so far their durability is promising. The natural materials and organic style make them easy to use around any room. For less than $30 at the time of writing, a set of 4 is a great deal and packs lots of value. They would also make for a lovely gift. I'd order again.
These placemats look unique and add a lovely decorative touch to the table. The leaf shape gives them a natural, elegant charm, and the flexible material makes them easy to handle. They work well for small to medium dishes and can also be used as hot pads for serving. The quality and weaving feel sturdy and durable, though I wish they were a bit larger for full dining settings. Cleaning part is yet to be seen, but overall, they bring both beauty and practicality to the table.
1) Picture 1 shows the placemats out of the box.2) Picture 2 shows the placemats out of the packaging.3) Picture 3 shows the weaving and the sewing.4) Picture 4 shows the different placemats.5) These are the most interesting placemats that I have seen. I love that they are thicker than most and that they are of a larger size. They can be used for so many different things. The one thing I didn't notice before if you look at the last picture, you can see that two of the placemats are edged in green and one in brown, and the last one in a brown and green mix. The weave seems tight, and they are also sewn to give them extra strength. I also love that they are all natural, which you can see in the different colorings. I can't imagine the work that had to go into these to make them this shape and strong enough to be used for many things. Overall, any natural product that is made this well and can be used for so many different things is made for me.
These are a nice size for my smallish 4-seat dining room table. They are unusual in that they're woven of natural materials in neutral earth tones. We'll see how well they clean up once we get some food stuck in the cracks LOL. I'm sure a little Dawn Power Wash will do the trick. These are thick sturdy placemats (about 1/2 inch), and there is stitching on one side with heavy thread to hold the plaits securely in the leaf shape. Overall they're pretty cute and I like them a lot, compared to all the other "normal" boring placemats out there.
I think these placemats are really cute. i’ve been using them more as like a trivet then I have as a placemat and they work well. They do have a smell to them which I find to be pleasant. I have not put anything truly hot on them only quite warm, if you will. I imagine if they got too hot they would scorch, but I have not had that problem so far. I’m not having any problem with cleaning wise. The size is good. I think they are a quality product. I do see where they are stitched together to make the leaf could be something to just be aware of in terms of durability, though I think it handled with a reasonable level of care they will last a long time.
