These are the best strainers! Forget those ones that look like a screen and fall apart in a matter of months with use. These ate just as good for straining the small particles and they are pretty much indestructible! Perfect for my Rainwater Harvesting system, but only needed the medium size of the three.
I got the set of three, 5.5 / 7/ 10quart. The design is perfect for my application, which is use in a home-built rainwater harvesting system, to filter out any leaves/debris that may be in the incoming rainwater, and also to prevent mosquito infestation of the rainwater collection sump. I had been using a 14-inch wire mesh strainer from another company, with modifications to remove the wood handle and base, but the wire mesh always rusted through within a year or two. I have spent hundres of dollars replacing the rusted wire mesh strainers over the years. Then I discovered the perforated stainless steel style of colander, and figured this would be the perfect solution for my rainwater system. However, I was unable to find one that matched the existing 14-inch opening in the cover of my rainwater sump -- that is, until I found this set from Comport K. The 7-quart colander fits perfectly, and I like the fact that there are no handles and base that I needed to saw off. The stainless steel material should last practically forever. It drains and filters the incoming rainwater very effectively. For my application, I could not ask for a better part. It is almost as if Comport K had my rainwater harvesting system in mind.The only negative aspect is that I wish I could have only bought the 14-inch / 7-quart colander, without also getting the smaller 5.5-quart and larger 10-quart colanders that I don't need. I will probaby use the smaller one for food prep, and donate the large one to a charity kitchen. Perhaps Comport K would consider selling their various perforated stainless steel colanders individually.
