Bought for my son who loves spaetzle and now uses this tool to make homemade spaetzle frequently. The tool is simple and yet, it does the trick. The design enables the base to rest across the top edge of a pot full of boiling water while he slides the cup full of batter back and forth over the bas which enables the batter to drop through in small sized pieces into the boiling water. I do recommend using a pair of tongs to hold and slide the cup as it does get very hot. The entire unit washes up well in the dishwasher afterwards. Highly recommend

Wow! Just Wow!

The only way I have ever made these little dumplings (Spätzle, Nokedli) is with an old-fashioned grater and a wooden spatula. Usually, half of my dough falls over the sides. This device has a small box that holds the dough and fits in a track that keeps the dough caged in. You just slide it back and forth until all of the dough has been pushed through the holes. My recipe was 100 grams of all-purpose flour, 1 egg, and up to 1/4 cup of water. Mix until a smooth, soft dough forms. Put it in the sliding box and push/pull it over the boiling broth. I did about 1/3 of the amount and then paused to stir and spread the dumplings out so they didn't keep piling up on themselves. OMG! This was the easiest batch of dumplings I have ever made. The bonus was how easy the cleanup was. The old way meant that I only made the dumplings only for special occasions. Now, my husband wants them all the time. He said, "These are better than noodles!" I am never going back to the old ways again!
