Works fine. Just as I thought it would.
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Derrison Boston Cocktail Shaker Set, and I must say, it's a bartender's dream come true. This 2-piece premium weighted Boston shaker set offers not only functionality but also a touch of sophistication that elevates your mixology game. From the moment I held the shaker in my hands, I could feel the quality of the stainless steel construction. The heavy-duty metal not only adds durability but also a professional feel to the bartending experience. The embossed ribs on the shakers not only provide a secure grip but also add a unique design element that catches the eye.The set includes two shakers: an 18 oz and a 28 oz, allowing you to create a wide range of cocktails, from martinis to margaritas. The two shakers fit perfectly together, creating a tight seal that ensures your concoctions are mixed thoroughly without any spills. One of the standout features of this shaker set is its premium weighted design. The shakers feel balanced in your hands, making it easier to shake with precision and control. Whether you're a seasoned bartender or a home mixology enthusiast, this set helps you craft cocktails with the finesse of a professional.Cleaning up after a cocktail-making session is a breeze, thanks to the seamless design of the shakers. The stainless steel material is easy to rinse and wipe clean, and the shakers are dishwasher safe for added convenience.
This review is for the double-weighted set. My go-to shakers have been from barfly for a while now, but after one of the weights came off while shaking, I decided to give these a try. The quality is fairly high, though it looks like there are only 4 very tiny welds (less than 1mm) keeping the weights on the bottom, but this is pretty standard. This set forms a good seal, but does not release as easily as my other sets - likely due to the seemingly thicker and less pliable walls. The main issue that I have with this set is that the mouth of the larger tin is huge. None of the hawthorn strainers I've tried come close to fitting very well and it seems to exacerbate the seal created when shaking. For the price, there are better options, but the quality makes up some of the difference.
My Bartending years have passed but not for at home, I was needing a shaker set like I used to use when I was slinging at the local bar and this 2 piece stainless steel shaker set from the Derrison Store filled that need and worked perfectly for my home bar. This food grade stainless steel has a very nice feel not to thick but not to thin as well. The 2 piece when placed together forms a tight seal so when you’re shaking your favorite cocktail you’ll be assured you won’t be wearing that drink and your friends will be impressed as well. I truly highly recommend this shaker set not only for the weekend warrior but even if you’re a bar owner this will suit your needs as well.“Peace “
I have a small collection of cocktail shakers of all sorts, but my preference is for this type of Boston style shakers. This one is a great example. The construction is not cheap; I've seen heavier ones, and then there are those that use a glass for the top portion, but this one is well made and does not feel like a cheap shaker at all. It seals just right, it has a decent capacity, and the base is slightly weighted for stability. There are no distracting logos imprinted on it as I often see with cheap shakers. The finish is nicely polished for easy clean-up. To sum up, I'm very happy with it.
This shaker performs well but is a touch on the light side. I kept it around and use it regularly, however now it picks up water in the weighted base so I'm just dreading the day it starts to stink of mold. I'll stick with the Koriko brand.
