Great Option For Longevity, But So Slick That Leaks Travel Fast And End Up On Countertop
Wonderful, but then not so wonderful....This is actually quite thick, has a lovely heft to it, and is very flat-surfaced such that it's very easy to use. But, at the same time, it's very sleek, so you get a lot of run-off/spillage with this, and then it's easily scratched, so it's not very pretty after that first day.Overall, this is a great option, for someone aware of the drawbacks of using titanium instead of wood or plastic. I returned to using my plastic, which has a slight lip around it, because it can be washed in the dishwasher and prevents spillage while also being fairly safe if I remember to buy a new one every so often. This ended up being something I use for bread, and only for bread, because it catches crumbs and then I can dump them easily, but it really helps those liquids move more and move faster and move right off onto my counter when it's used with meat or fish.This is great for bread, and basically only bread, in my home, so it's four-stars for being wonderful but then having a downside, in that it is so sleek that it helps leaks travel faster and end up on the counter. It's not super durable, in that it does scratch, so you'll get tired of that eventually and still need a new one, which means it's not preventing the need for replacement so much as changing the reason you'd want to replace it. I suppose it can be recycled, which is better than some plastics, but will it get recycled, in the end. It's superior for not retaining any smells and for being super easy to clean, but it's so slick that it helps those leaks right along on their way to the countertop. Back to plastic I went.
