I’ll be honest, I used to avoid kitchen gadgets that take up extra space because I always thought I could just do things the old fashioned way. Lately though, I am realizing that some tasks that used to feel simple are getting harder. Between arthritis in my hands and not so great vision, shredding chicken with a knife has started to feel a little scary.This chicken shredder actually works really well and is very easy to use. A cooked chicken breast can be shredded in about 10 seconds, and even a larger amount takes under a minute. I eat a lot of chicken in salads and other meals, so this has been a big time saver for me. It also cleans up easily and does fine in the dishwasher.The only hesitation I have is that it does not feel super solid. I have seen reviews mentioning the plastic prongs breaking, so time will tell how long it holds up. That said, it makes my life easier and feels much safer than using a knife when my hands are not cooperating.Overall, this is one of those gadgets I never thought I would buy, but now I am glad I did. Less effort, less risk, and shredded chicken without the stress makes it worth it for me.

Great time saver, great for tired hands
This shredder has been a lifesaver in my kitchen, and I love how simple the design is, without a lot of little parts that need taken out to wash it.I make a lot of meals that require shredded chicken, and I've tried a handful of other types of shredders, like the claw styles, but they make my hands cramp up and are generally not any faster than simply dicing it with a fork and knife. But my hands are becoming arthritic, and hand dicing/shredding is not only time consuming but painful. Ive been buying a lot of kitchen tools lately to get around my chronic pain issues, so when I saw this shredder, I had to try it.The shredder works great, just as advertised. I usually use tenderloin cuts of chicken, and can fit 3 or 4 into the shredder at a time. After the first cycle of shredding, I use a fork to move some larger chunks from the outside perimeter into the middle and shred again with a couple twists. Then I use a fork or my fingers to get out the little bits that are left behind after I empty the shredder. This shredder has turned a 30 minute task into a 5 minute task. So far, it holds up well to the heat of chicken fresh out of the oven, too. I've used it 4 times so far.As for cleaning, the box didn't say whether it is dishwasher safe, so I've been handwashing. It comes with a special brush in the box, but the bristles aren't actually long enough to drag it between the spikes for quickly cleaning, so I've been using a bottle brush, swirling it between the empty spaces and also twisting between sets of spikes to get the crevices. The spikes all have a slight twist to the shape, so little bits get stuck there. I usually wash and rinse twice in a row, because it's still a little greasy after the first pass of removing debris, but this is fine. If you're unable to wash it immediately, I highly recommend at least rinsing it so those crevices are easier to clean. Beware, it WILL try to shoot the water back up at you due to its shape, so be cautious with your faucet flow lol.Some improvements on future designs I would suggest: more spikes on the outer perimeter of the top piece so there's not so many chunks making their way out there unshredded. Also, longer bristles on the included cleaning brush. I didn't deduct any stars for these issues, because they're manageable issues for me.

Fast and efficient
This was the fastest way I have ever Made Chicken salad! It came out way better than I could have ever shredded it. And so fast oh I said that already. I love it! I bought one for my son who cooks a lot and for my daughter who also Cooks a lot! I read reviews that said it's hard to clean but it is not. It is very easy to clean. And it is dishwasher safe although I washed mine by hand because it was really easy and they give you a nice brush also.
