The Goldilocks of cutting boards! Best quality, dishwasher safe convenience

I’ve owned and used a wide variety of cutting boards over my years as an experienced cook and I feel like Goldilocks trying to find the best one. Plastic-like material has dishwasher-safe convenience but scars easily and poses a potential health hazard on several fronts. Glass and titanium clean easily but dull my knives and I hate the harsh sound of chopping on them. Wood is great for my knives and feels nice to work with but it can’t go in the dishwasher and when I’m working with raw meat or something else with high food safety/sanitation concerns, I struggle with my fears and worries about whether I can get a wood board fully clean and safe to use for vegetables or fruits after cutting raw meat or fish on it. Quality wood boards are also thick and heavy and take extra space in my cabinet. This wood fiber board from Public Goods is that “just right” board that checks all the right boxes. It’s dishwasher safe so I can clean it in a way that makes me comfortable for food safety purposes. It has silicone corner guards that keep it stable and firmly in place on the counter when in use. It has a groove carved around the edge to catch any liquids released and an opening in one corner that is easy to slip a couple fingers in to pull it out of the cabinet. It’s also thin and lightweight, requiring much less space for storage than other options. The surface is gentle on my knives and there’s no harsh noise from the board when I chop on it. It’s an attractive natural wood color similar to a maple wood tone. This Public Goods board specifically is hands down the best quality one I’ve tried in this material and style (and I’ve tested 4 different brands). In my first included photo, the Public Goods board is the lighter colored one at the bottom of the photo. The board at the top of the photo is a different brand and you can see several differences immediately. One, the darker colored non-Public Goods board is missing two of its silicone corner bumpers that have popped off and gotten lost because they weren’t securely attached. In contrast, the corner bumpers on the Public Goods board are firmly attached and haven’t come off once. The other brand board is also far more scarred than the Public Goods board, despite the fact that they have both been used for a similar period of time. The other board has deeper scratches and knife marks, and more of them, whereas on the Public Goods board I have to really search to find any scratches or knife marks and those that are there are shallow and can barely be felt when running my fingers over the board. I took a second, close up photo of the Public Goods board and I don’t think the slight scratches even show in the photo. The generous size of this large board works well for a variety of tasks and now that I’ve found the brand I like and trust in Public Goods, I’ll be replacing my other boards in different sizes with Public Goods boards.

Great cutting board, but just a little too large for convenience...

The perfect cutting board in many ways, but for me it is too large - it doesn't fit in the dishwasher without being canted at a strange angle, and it is too large to store properly with my other cutting boards. It's my hope that they make a smaller version at some point - even just 3-4" in each direction would make a big difference, and make it more attractive to use regularly.

Excellent everyday cutting board that is dishwasher safe

This wood composite cutting board has become the one I reach for most, which is usually the best endorsement I can give a kitchen tool.Quality is noticeably better than the particle-board style cutting boards I’ve picked up from places like IKEA. After regular use and plenty of dishwasher cycles, it hasn’t warped, cracked, or developed rough spots. The surface has held up well and remains smooth, with no problematic divots or excessive knife wear. The weight is just right. It’s heavy enough that it doesn’t slide around on the counter while chopping, but not so heavy that it’s annoying to move or store. That balance makes it comfortable to use for longer prep sessions.Dishwasher safe is a huge win here. Being able to clean it thoroughly without worrying about damage makes this far more practical than traditional wood boards, especially when dealing with raw meat or messy prep.Functionally, the size works very well. There’s enough surface area to chop comfortably without constantly bumping ingredients into mixing bowls, yet it still stores easily in the pantry alongside other boards without taking over the space.Overall, this is a well-designed, durable, and highly functional cutting board that blends the best parts of wood and composite materials. It’s smooth, stable, easy to clean, and genuinely useful. An easy five stars and a strong upgrade from budget boards.

Solid, Minimalist Cutting Board

There's a lot to like about this cutting board, and very little to hold it back. First of all, it's simple, with minimal branding and a very slim profile, such that it can both easily slip into drawers when you don't need it, and also doesn't add all that much bulk to your countertop. Second, the wood fiber makeup is great. We're trying to get rid of all of our plastic cutting boards, but had some concerns about what we should cut our meat on. Turns out, wood fiber is a perfect surface for meat as well as vegetables (as long as you clean it thoroughly). So that's great. And finally, the rubber feet on here are like no other (non-suction) rubber feet I've ever seen. The grip on them is so strong that you basically cannot push it across your counter without exerting a lot of force.Honestly, the only thing that makes this a little harder to recommend is the price (about $50 at the time of this review), but even then, it seems like it's just going to outlast a lot of our other cutting boards, and not add in any excess avoidable microplastics, so I am honestly thinking about getting one or two more. Very good product!

High quality cutting board

Love the size of this cutting board! It holds a lot of veggies without any of what you are chopping falling off the sides. I like that it’s not plastic like our other cutting boards and that it has a handle which makes it seem like much nicer quality. Despite being wood, it’s fairly lightweight. It’s a bit big to put in our dishwasher, so this is a hand wash item, which I would think you’d want to do to preserve the wood finish anyway. Given the high quality, this would make a nice hostess or welcome home gift.
