These work great if you try our trick
We thought these cookie cutters looked fabulous and bought them despite the negative reviews. Getting the dough out of the cutters takes some finesse, and it's not for the impatient. We used the flat end of a chopstick and it worked really well to gently press the dough out of the cutter without distorting the design. We've used these several times now and they've produced beautiful cookies that have wowed viewers on our video channel as well as our followers on social media. We have had no problems with rusting as some reviewers noted; this potential issue has been easy to avoid simply by drying off the cutters immediately after washing them. Producing beautiful cookies takes time and practice. These cutters are definitely worth mastering and they've added gorgeous examples to our cookie portfolio. We'll be buying more to give as gifts for sure.

So gorgeous
Some tips from what we have learned playing with these, roll your dough a little on the thin side rather than really thick. find a chopstick to poke through the backside of the cutter to release the cookie. make sure you flour your cutters blade side between each cookie you cut. These did work for us on the first try and we are not professional bakers.

beautiful and absolutely impossible to make work.
i wanted to love these. they are beautiful. However, there is no technique (oil, ice, heat, flour , oil and flour, pam and flour, just pam...freeze the dough..)trust me, I tried everything. The simply would not work. Dough stuck to cutters and even the outline would not cut (let alone the cutouts inside the cutter). So sad, because the are truly gorgeous to look at and if they worked. omg, the cookies would be great!stick to the larger cutters

Tricky, but Worth the Effort
I was a bit unsure about how this would work and I know a bit about large cookies cutters and their good qualities and their drawbacks. I started with the recipe that came with the cutter, rolled out the dough, and pressed the cookie cutter in. Some cookie cutters will quickly push through the dough to the cutting board, but this cutter did not. I had to do a combination of a push/wiggle to get it to the bottom. Once I felt I had pushed through the dough to the cutting board, I gently pulled the dough remaining around the cutter and pulled it away gently. Pulling out the cutter, as seen in photo one, shows that the interior cuts did not push all the way through. I'm not sure if the cookie cutter was designed this way deliberately or not, but the results were less than satisfactory and created a new set of problems. At first, I tried cutting all the tiny interior pieces out with the tip of a paring knife which was time consuming and not particularly effective. Instead, I rolled out the dough and cut another cookie, flipping the dough and cookie together upside down in my left hand seen in picture two. With the palm of my right, I gently pressed the interior dough so that the pieces pushed through. Flipping it over once again, I placed it on the cookie sheet and gently pried the dough out and placed it so that it was ready for baking. In photo three, you can see that all the pieces are completely cut out and free of dough. After baking, the cookie looked like photo number four, ready for decorating. This is a bit more work and not quite what people expect if they have been used to working with smaller cookie cutters or cutters with out intricate interior pieces. However, I wanted to try this because I didn't feel overly excited about making tons of cookies when I could make a few big ones instead! If I compare the extra time and care to press the cookie dough and push out the smaller pieces with a toothpick, far and away I used less time than if I make several with the smaller cutters. In addition, I felt that the delicate-like appearance of the snowflake cutter make the cookies even more lovely and more Christmas-like.One caveat though...I didn't feel that the recipe was working for me and seemed, after baking, a bit tough,. Instead, I chose to use an old family recipe that has honey in it, making the cookies not only beautiful to look at, slightly soft and chewy, and even better to taste!I chose to give this item only four stars as it came dented on one of the star tips (I pulled the dents out with a pair of pliers) and it is not a high end made cookie cutter, with the pieces not holding well, or the 'welds' not of sturdy quality.

Beautiful Shapes and the Perfect Size
I really enjoyed the results these cookie cutters produced. I think the key is to use a dough that is not too soft. I used my favorite shortbread cookie recipe and had no trouble. I cut out the shapes but before moving them from the cutting mat to the baking sheet, I removed al the extraneous dough from around each snowflake, put them in the refrigerator to firm up for about 15 minutes, and then transferred them to the baking sheet. I liked the decorated cookies so much that I made several batches to give away to friends. I also like the size because 2½ to 3 inches is my favorite size for decorating and gifting. I'll definitely use these again next Christmas.

Love the look, but...
I love the look of this snowflake, however, making cookies with it was difficult. I believe mine was made incorrectly as the sharp side was not the side you used to cut the dough. When I tried using it with the sharp side up, it wouldn't go through the dough all the way (I didn't think it would, but I had to try), and when I used it sharp side down, it was uneven and only cut through the dough in certain places but not the whole snowflake. Some of the pieces are so small, that the dough became lodged in it. I became very frustrated and only made one cookie with this cutter as I didn't have the time and energy to try to make more, so for the remaining cookies I used the retro ornament cookie cutters and they worked out great. This is a beautiful cutter to look at, I just wished it worked better.
