Helps achieve beautiful cakes at home!
I'm just a home baker that likes to make homemade cakes for holidays and special occasions. I love that this makes my cakes look so much more professional! It gives them a nice smooth, but textured finish! I ordered the 5mm/10mm semicircle. I think that sizing is perfect for my basic needs - I can make smaller or larger stripes without having to get other sized combs. It's definitely long enough so you can use it one cakes that have several layers. Heating it up a little definitely helps with getting it smooth with fewer passes, but do not heat it up too much or you'll melt your frosting!! I very pleased with it and like it more than the plastic ones. My only wish is that it came with a storage sleeve. It's not sharp like a knife, but I would prefer to have some kind of sleeve on it when storing it. It's pretty long(almost 20"), so I can't easily store it in the small totes that I keep on my baking supplies in. The best way to store it is to probably put it on one of those magnet strips on the wall for knives - which I don't have unfortunately. But yeah, other than that, I'm very happy with it!

[Who wants to order one thing, only to get another? Not me.]Weight?Just over four (4) ounces.Teeth?Sharp, so, I had to be careful and did not allow the children to handle this.Warped?NoBent easily?No, it was rigid.Material of comb?Stainless steel.Grade of stainless steel?I see no reference if this is 18/10 or 18/8. I think that’s a negative.Semi-circles?Yes, they are precise.Easy to use?Hmm, as an amateur, I found it a tad tricky, as it’s not that wide.Easy to clean?Hmm, those teeth are sharp, they catch any washcloth or sponge and can rip and tear the cleaning device. So, I use the pressure washing feature and then carefully use heavy soap and water to clean the icing off. Again, these teeth are sharp, so, I cleaned this cautiously. There was no reference about being dishwasher safe that I saw. Great cake comb
Perfect for tall cakes. The metal is very solid and sturdy (although there is a slight give due to the length). The edges are sharp so I do try to be careful with it, but it’s great for cutting into buttercream and I’m not necessarily concerned with cutting myself with it (although it definitely seems possible).

The edges are sharp so be careful handling it. I’m sure it would cut right through food handler type gloves. The pattern cut in the metal is even and ready to use.Installation/setup: Hold against your cake after it’s frosted to give a nice patterns and smoothness to your product.Final thoughts: I was a cake decorator in a local supermarket for 10 years and I used many cake combs. I never used one this large, we just didn’t have enough call for large cakes to justify the expense. This can be used for smaller cakes, of course, but it is a bit of a specialty item. I’m retired now, and I don’t make cakes much at all any more but I can tell you this is good quality and should last many years if taken care of. The edges are sharp but they will also give you a nice clean surface and I’m sure you will appreciate that. I plan to use it in my hobby shop for some interesting printing textures and painted surfaces. Wow this was not what I was expecting. Its HUGE
WOW This was totally not what I was expecting. This thing is huge. I am just an at home hobby baker. Not a professional. Just enjoy doing it as a hobby for friends. So with that said, I don't know how reliable my opinion is as I have never used one of these before. But for me this thing is AMAZING. I love that I am able to create such beautiful groves on the edge of my cake SO EASILY. This was super easy to use and incredibly easy to clean. Its huge much bigger than I expected. But its nice cause now I am able to use it for various size cakes. FANTASTIC! Highly Highly recommend. Coming from a non baker.
