I like thst these are thin on one side and thick and cushiony on the other. that means they handle the heat of very hot pans. have some recipes at 450° and they work just fine. but having the thin back means you still can wear them as a glove so they're secure but they don't take up a lot of space in the drawer for storage. they also work great just as hot pads to put other pans on. so much more practical than the big bulky gloves
The product is great as far as the thickness but the areas where you put your four fingers is quite small. I was able to use that part of the holders but my husbans wasn't. The color if them was great, nice and rich!
One of the mitten was ripped machine missed the edge otherwise the other 3 was good. Too much trouble to return.
Nice color and good quality
finally found a replacement for the ones I had that were about 15 years old!. the hand protection is excellent quality! they are thick enough for great heat resistance. Others I have purchased just didn't have the thickness nor quality to keep me from getting burned holding a hot pan long enough to get it out of the oven to the counter. the best feature is the flexibility of the thumb hold placement. so easy to control a hot pan without losing control and dropping something.I have arthritis and psoriasis, so sometimes my hands get weak without me knowing it is going to happen, and I lose grip with other pot holders.
I just made a THIRD purchase of these unique TERRY/QUILTED POTHOLDERS. In my 5 year experience with them, I have found them useful and aesthetically pleasing, however there are some prevailing negative issues that I feel I must convey. As for the practicality/usefulness of this RITZ MITZ POCKET MITT, the "smaller" rectangular profile appeals to me (8.5 x 5.25 - excluding loop), as opposed to regular "square" potholders on the market. The plain side of this potholder is comprised of a nice solid black quilted terry cloth. The reverse side is an ivory color quilted terry fabric featuring a slightly more "looped" texture. At each end of the ivory side are contrasting fabric pockets; one for fingers, the other for the thumb. The pocket fabric feels like a durable heavy black poplin - or perhaps a mid-weight black cotton denim. The pocket opening for the fingers measure 4.25 x 3", the thumb opening 2.75 x 2". This sturdy mitt is edged in double-fold bias tape - the same heavy "denim/poplin" fabric as the pockets. The ivory color center portion is flexible to accommodate "bending", making it fairly easy to negotiate hot pots/pans (but it might require a "break in" period, as they are initially kind of "stiff"). There is a generous "quarter size" loop at the end for hanging, however I prefer to store them in a drawer. I've been using this style for over five years. I machine wash them, lay them flat to air dry -- and after many washings, they still look very nice and function well. Now don't get me wrong... I REALLY like these little potholders. After all, this IS my THIRD purchase of the same product. However there ARE CAVEATS that I feel I must mention. After receiving this third shipment, I can confirm that there are ongoing QUALITY CONTROL issues with this product. As you can see by the attached photos, of four potholders, the pockets on TWO (50% of the order) are visibly CROOKED (uneven by 1/2"); one more so than the other. This is not an anomaly, as each of my two other shipments were the same (50% showing uneven pockets). I liked this product so much that I "overlooked" the inferior mitts contained in previous shipments, (foolishly perhaps) choosing to buy another set of the same and simply store away the "crooked" ones (handy in the event I were forced to use them at some juncture). So, in a nutshell... great product concept, design, and materials, but POOR QUALITY ASSURANCE (made in China). Of three sets of potholders (12 TOTAL), SIX are inferior (crooked pockets). Not a good value as I'm essentially paying $15 for TWO well constructed potholders (rather than 4).
