I did a good deal of research on this type of item. What I have found is that you definitely need the extension out of the front for bowl support as it gives you extra leverage for squeezing. You also need that extra sleeve to stop the disc from the suction effect that happens especially with potatoes. This item is awesome, have used it several times already, and at a very good price point.
I'm happy that I finally got around to ordering one. I'm certain that ricing potatoes will be easier than ricing cauliflower. If you have arthritis in your hands and fingers, make certain that you have younger stronger hands who like to help! I wish it held a larger capacity.
Worked unbelievably well!First time using a ricer and I couldn’t believe the results. Even my picky eater son noticed how smooth his mash potatoes were.Easy to use and super easy to clean!Would recommend to anyone who enjoys smoothly blended potatoes with half the work needed to prepare.
After reading a glowing Thanksgiving meal prep review, we instantly purchased this item. The product lived up to the hype for us and made mashed potatoes super quick and easy. After you’ve done it once or twice the assembly is very quick. We let the ricer soak in water during the meal and cleanup was a breeze.
Works nice
This is one of best of the Potato Ricers out there. I like that this model has an 'Inner Liner Cup' that firmly keeps the Ricer Discs always in place at the bottom of the Ricer. It probably doesn't have the biggest hopper to hold the most potatoes, but it is big enough, & it loads easily. I already have Food Mill style of Ricer which is O.K., but it is not easy to thoroughly clean, and it is large, taking up a lot of cupboard space. My go-to Ricer is the Rorence SS Ricer for everyday use. It may be a little more expensive than many ricers, but it is worth the money since it is so well-designed, sturdy, and cleans-up relatively easily. I'd estimate that each hopper full of potatoes delivers enough riced potatoes to serve two to three people, unless they really love their mashed potatoes? It is good to give ALL Potato Ricers a thorough spraying of hot water after using them, since 'mashed/riced' potatoes can harden fairly fast, and may be difficult to clean if they are not left to soak in water after using them.
