easy and quick to use
I was skeptical, i have used many garlic presses. i found that if i cut the bottomoff the clove of garlic and place it in the press i get nice fresh squeezed garlic within seconds and i don't have to.....PEEL ALL THE SKIN OFF. it really works. i will be giving these as gifts for christmas this year. it was also super easy to clean and i can stand it up nicely.

Not a durable garlic press
I've had the same issue that many other's have documented here. When pressing garlic with any amount of force, it's very easy to bend the bottom plate and start pushing it past where it's supposed to stop. You can bend it back, but really it shouldn't do that. Long term this thing just isn't going to last. Big waste of money. This is a great looking press for those who never plan on pressing garlic.

Nice garlic press
Made of stainless steel, works very well, goes in dishwasher.Previously had others not stainless and over time the finish wears off.You won’t be disappointed.

Not the typical sleek design but works better than most.
I really like Rosle tool that are made in Germany. While the design of this garlic press is pretty simple, reasonably strong, and there are several characteristics that make this superior to most garlic presses; the functionality while operating may leave something to be desired. The bennefits are quite clear and it offers a good mechanical advantage while pressing garlic. This simple design offers 3 main attributes with minimal moving pieces;1) The wide handles is distributes the pressure across a greater surface area.2) The screen flips out for easy cleaning when opened.3) One handle is heavier than the other and when closed fits into the other. This makes it easier to hold while loading and pressing. It works well bur in not exactly sure that it’s the quality that I expect from Rosle either. When I first got it I was indifferent about the look and function. My initial review was, “This is very well built maybe a little overbuilt. It's kind of big and chunky and I think I may have liked a smaller one better. Guess I will never know.”Now that I’ve used it for over a year I like it more than most garlic presses and appreciate that it’s not made in China, but the design, specifically the over-size handle and excessive weight, make it cumbersome to use. Also don't think it has aged well compared to some of the other Rosle tools that look like the day I bought them even after years of use. On this tool, the stamp is already wearing off the handle, I've bent the mincing screen, and I can see a stress crack at the hinge.Even with a few complaints I think this may be the best garlic press out there. I trust the quality of the brand but if it does break all the way, I will update my review.

How can you improve upon a garlic press?
I'm not a garlic press person. I smash it with a knife, AFTER it is "peeled".However, my better half is not a fan of big chunks of garlic.I'm used to big, heavy, cast-iron garlic presses used when I was a kid.Unable to be cleaned, and probably just filled with lord knows and/or botulism.I was fully aware that I could buy a lesser version of that for a price, and then I came across this.Sounds a bit hype-y, but-- it truly does clean properly. I've never known a garlic press to come clean.

Inefficient and wasteful
I can't believe that, as of my writing, my 2 star review will be the most positive review for the new style of this press. My press is very wasteful: there is a lot of garlic left in the hopper. I suspect that other users are breaking their presses by trying to get it to crush the entire clove, when the machine is simply not designed to do so. It's attractive, but it's poorly designed: the materials are strong, but it's also designed so that anyone of average hand strength could break it if they didn't understand how it worked.

It was Good While it Lasted
I have bought many garlic presses, and never paid as much as I did for this one. I thought great stainless steel had great reviews, its heavy duty it will last forever. Well forever lasted about a little less than 4 months before the bottom started splitting out. One would have though it would be made from one solid piece of steel, but it is not. I would not waste your money on this, for $32 I could have bought 5 cheap ones and they would have lasted longer than this did. I am really shocked that this fell apart being such a hefty in weight press. Extremely disappointed that for the price I didn't even get a solid four months from it. Probably used it about 8-10 times and that was it.
