Love this!

I have been looking for a slicer that could handle slicing mushrooms as well as eggs, etc. Wires are not reliable, and I had been using a plastic slicer with metal blades. Unfortunately, my old slicer would catch the plastic sides and I would get plastic shards in my mushrooms. It took me a while to find this one from Rosle, but I am so happy I did. What a wonderful slicer. Very sturdy and sharp - by design the blades should not ever touch the guides during slicing. I sliced through my mushrooms with ease. Cleanup was simple with a dishwashing brush. What a bonus that the slicer is big enough to slice tomatoes and mozzarella too! I look forward to trying it on vegetables. Its pricier than other versions but it is definitely worth it.

I hated to slice fresh mozzarella.

But then I ordered the Rosle mozzarella/tomato slicer. What a wonderful cook's tool. I've used it several times, and it works great. Exactly as advertised. The only caution I would express is that it doesn't work very well on harder cheese, including old mozzarella balls. I haven't yet tried it on tomatoes, but based on its performance with cheese, I'm sure it will do just fine.

HHH888888888TED it! It doesnt slice, it compresses to mush.

I had such high hopes for this product. But....The blades are razor sharp...AWESOME.May work great for blocks of cheese or onions, but ripened tomatoes get mashed.Couldn't use the tomatoes for anything but soup or stew. The product doesn't not slice it presses the cut into being. Thus, the tomato is squashed it too ripe.back to using a kitchen knife!URGH!Tony

This Product Just Doesn't Cut It

I really wanted to like this product because everything about it is such high quality but it turned out to just be a beautiful looking bauble that failed the real-world usage test. It didn't "cut it" when the rubber met the road (or the blade met the tomato, or the cheese). The problem is that tomatoes and fresh mozzerella cheese are very soft and tend to bulge sideways when pressure is applied to them. They respond better to a sawing motion than to a cleaving motion. The mozzerella in particular flattened considerably before the blades began to cut into it. It takes a lot of force to cut either a tomato or a ball of fresh mozzerella, both are noticeably flattened after cutting, and both are difficult to remove intact from between the blades. Stick to using the wire slicer with fresh mozzerella and a sharp knife for tomatoes.

Good for Tomatoes Only!

I like this slicer, but you have to be careful to center it exactly over the tomato before you start or you will end up off center and it will not go all the way down into the base. I tried slicing an onion with it and bent a blade. So, Tomatoes Only! I would have bought a different slicer if I had known the limitations. Tomatoes isn't the only thing I would like to slice.
