Attractive to Look At and a Pleasure to Use, in the Rosle Tradition.
This Wire Cheese Slicer for Rosle is a substantial implement, made of 18/10 stainless steel. It will slice cheese in either 4mm or 5mm thick slices. It is 10.5 inches (26.5 cm) long in total, from the hanging hook to the prongs for picking up your cheese slices. The wire slicer is 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) long. The tension of the wire is easily adjustable with a knob near the top of the slicer, and you can buy replacement wires. It's a handsome tool. The pronged end can be useful, but some people may find it an unnecessary addition of length. If the prongs bother you, you might want to try the WMF cheese slicer, which is not quite as sleek but has no prongs. This is the nicest wire cheese slicer I've used. The tension is just right, so it slices through relatively soft cheeses like a dream, making perfect, uniform slices. And it feels great in the hand. It will slice cheeses up to 4 inches wide and is much easier and consistent to use than a knife. Some people report that the wire breaks on hard cheeses, but this will happen with any wire cheese slicer. It goes without saying that a wire slicer cannot be used on Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, or anything equally dense. It's for sliceable cheeses. It makes easy work of them, and both the slices and your Rosle slicer will look great on your table.

Been searching just for this
We bought one similar to this in Denmark almost 20 years ago. Finally broke after 10-15 years. Two sides make it easy - I mean easy to slice cheese thin on one side, thicker on the other. We used the 1st one while riding on a train south to Germany. I haven't really torn this one apart yet, but looks like you can even change the wire once it breaks - assuming you find same grade stainless wite. I like this better than my $60 cheese knife from Cutco.

The perfect cheese slicer
After the wires became too loose on a less-expensive cheese slicer, I finally spent the extra money on the Rosle. I am extremely glad I did. It provides easy slicing, with less resistance than the prior slicer. The long thin slicing section is maneuverable and easy to use. It has a nice weight, and looks great. The Rosle offers two different thicknesses to choose from (one on either side), a cheese fork, and the cutting wire can be replaced (if it ever breaks). It is dishwasher safe, and still looks and works great after washing.

Best Cheese Slicer
I have had one of these for probably 10 years, and just bought a second one for our motorhome. It is so easy to use and and wash, it make's a clean cut on the cheese. The length is long enough to cut an 8 oz block on the wide side. I love this and will never use another cheese slicer again. I have never broken a wire even after using my old one for 10+ years.

Made in ???
Really thought I was going to love my new German made kitchen gadget.... it turns out to be made in China! Shame on Rosle for putting their name on something of lesser quality & yet still charging a premium price. Oh, by the way ordered the replacement wires & those were still made in Germany! If I wanted to go the Chinese route I could have just gone to Wal -Mart. Please correct the " made in" part of the description.

I expected a lot more from Rosle
This is awkward to use and oddly designed. You are unable to remove the cheesefork feature, so I recommend keeping the plastic shielding on it 24/7 -- unless you enjoy getting gouged in the wrist every time you root around in your utensil drawer for something. The wires come loose quickly and I am constantly having to tighten the again. The handle is sturdy, but the rod style makes the end part crumble off. The "Y" shaped cheese slicers are much better at getting a clean slice all the way through. I will not buy another Rosle item, this is the third one in a row that has been disappointing -- I assume they sold the company and everything is just drop-shipped from china now. I was happy to pay extra for the craftsmanship of their past, that is no longer true.
