I have a glass top kitchen table that shows the beautiful base. So I needed something that would not fully hide that. Plus the mats help dishes and utensils soften the sound of the noise usually created when setting them agains glass The only drawback was they can fray. But burn the edges carefully with a lighter and they are good as new.

These are insubstantial. They are very flimsy.
I liked the idea of a placemat for a round table, and these looked pretty nice in the picture. However, they are about the thickness of a manila folder and come folded in half--I still haven't gotten the creases out. They are OK for everyday use at the breakfast table, but I would never entertain with them.
Very nice, subtle color which I like and fit great, but wish they were a bit larger as they are about the size of my plates. I would recommend the seller ship them flat as is took a long time for the fold crease to disappear ! I had then flat with wt several days. I am very pleased as they could fit any decor or color. I was happy with the black which was a silvery/black. All 8 fit easily on my 60 in round table!
