Why haven’t we seen these sooner?!
I can’t believe what a difference these placemats will make in my life. I’m a scratch cooker and I also reheat everything in a pressure cooker (as long as it’s not supposed to be crispy). You should try it - nothing dries out, tastes about the same as when you first cooked it! Just 3-5 minutes from fridge, up to about 10 minutes from freezer - depends.I’m a senior with a multitude of health issues. I just can’t do everything myself anymore, despite the long-term plan. But I’ve been living below the poverty line for more than a decade, so there’s not enough money for what I need, let alone to hire help even if it were at minimum wage.A friend hooked me up with a “jack of all trades master of none” to help me on a big project 3 years ago. Since then I’ve been bartering with him for anything and everything I need around the house, with my car, on my riding mower... When we put our heads together, we’ve been able to figure out a way around just about everything. What I’ve REALLY needed him for over the last year is to help install and/or set-up my AMAZON VINE products!! Vine is the joy is my otherwise crappy life, and it’s actually improved it dramatically. Simple things like lights, security cameras, comfort items, mobility aids, silly things that make me smile like the critter feeders! I just need a sponsor for the critter food. LOL. No, really. So since I don’t have money to pay him even slave wages, we barter. I barter whatever I can. And I try to take care of him and his pup when they’re here. Both of their diets suck. I have health problems, including crappy kidneys. I won’t do well, emotionally, in end stage on dialysis, so I’m slowing the progress as much as I can, by any means possible. I cook everything I can from scratch, and I use quality food by shopping the sales, coupons, rewards programs, etc. I’m prepping and cooking for hours for them both while he’s doing what I can’t as my bod continues to degrade. And I’ve recently began sending them packing with healthy choice snacks to take home, and on their recent Thanksgiving road trip back to his real ‘home’. Grown man has never had snacks on this 10-11 hour road trip! He doesn’t say too much, but I think he’s really enjoying this arrangement!! Without a doubt I know that Dozer and I are! I'm so grateful for his help!Wow, that was a long and winding road, wasn’t it?! THE PLACEMATS! I have a stack of those silicone bumpy trivets that I end up lining tables and counters with, and then I try to balance the bowls, pots, and dishes on them (heated to keep my food warm - his doesn’t have a chance to cool). It’s really a pain.OMG! Where have these been?? Perfect solution - one of those why didn’t I think of that products. They don’t look like a trivet or potholder, they look (and act) like a placemat. And the generous surface area gives us PLENTY of room to just be able to place the items down wherever we want, without worrying if they're set right.Easy to wipe clean. Textured back to reduce sliding. LOVE THEM!

Excellent Mats With Multiple Use Beyond The Dinner Table - Great Value, Too - Recommended
This is useful set of multi-functional mats, more than just placemats. A mat can serve admirably as a craftwork surface, or to provide a water proof and slip resistant place for manicures, small model building, small item mechanical repairs, kitchen work, and many other uses.Of course, they work just fine as placements, protecting the table surface from crumbs, spills and stains and the china from drops on the table as well as slips and slides while dining. They look fine on the table lying flat with the leather-like side up. I didn't check carefully when opening the package, but a couple of days later, when I checked, they were odor-free.The mats are made of two plies of material. The bottoms ply's exposed surface has a texture like woven fabric. The top ply has a texture like a fine grain leather. Those textures are molded into the polyurethane material. A layer of what appears to be non-woven polyester fiber is sandwiched between the two plies. This layer provides extra cushioning and would also serve to lessen the weight of the mat for a given thickness. The three layer stack is bonded together, perhaps by heat, well enough to not be easily be delaminated. See my close-up photos that show a small sample sliver from the mat from an edge-on viewpoint, partially and more fully delaminated to show the middle layer's fibers. The total thickness of the mat measures 1.5 mm and can be compressed to just over 0.5 mm.The mats clean easily with water and a bit of soap or detergent, but any ink or stain that is indelible on matte-surfaced polyurethane will be difficult to remove. At a cost of about $4 per mat they are a solid value for money. Based on that value and the many applications they work in, I rate this set of mats five stars

Everyday placemats, tough enough and looks good
These placemats arrived folded over neatly in the box. There were no creases or lasting imprints on the mats once we had them out of the plastic bag. There was, though, a significant chemical smell. It was definitely noticeable, not simply a mild scent. We let them air out in a utility room for a couple of days, but that did not completely diminish the smell. We washed and let them air out and after a day or two more, they were fine. The beige color works well for us. The size was spot on, fitting in a couple of trays we use frequently. One of the first things I appreciated was the non-slip back. This is important as there is lots of activity in the kitchen and these do not slip. Especially important when placing warm/hot items down. Now, I don't recommend putting pans and pots directly onto these (I have not tried, they are placemats overall), but they are heat resistant and everything we have put on them has had no effect due to heat. Even pouring boiling water and letting it sit had no effect. The mats are pliable and clean easily, all while looking good. We have yet to stain or mar these with normal use. We have spilled on them, let it sit, and wipe later achieving a clean placemat.I know these are "just" placemats, but they are durable, easy to keep clean, and stand up to heavy use and abuse. These lost 1 star only because of the chemical smell and we were not prepared for it. I would have appreciated a heads up, and a recommendation, to get rid of the chemical smell.Overall, I would recommend these, especially for us messy eaters.
