Love it!! Large size, versatile, exactly what I needed.

Silicone baking mat 28x20”I really love this thing! I am a stickler for keeping my workspace very clean, avoiding cross contamination… if I don’t stay clean and organized, even a bit to the extreme, I cannot think. I am definitely the type of person who will walk into a kitchen to cook something or bake something, find the space cluttered or dirty, I end up cleaning the kitchen… And by the end of it, I make a PB&J because all my motivation went into preparing the space. My husband, on the other hand, is an absolute tornado who manages to cook a five course meal in any type of disaster area. And he cannot seem to wrap his brain around the fact that I cannot do that. So, the other night, I declared this mat MY zone… Don’t touch it, don’t move anything, etc. And it’s large enough to give me enough workspace. Brilliant.It’s very nonslip, it does not move around. And yet my dough does not stick. I’m also using it as a clean zone for making my body butter and salves and there’s enough room for all of my little crock jars of ingredients, measuring stuff, scale, etc. Not what it’s intended for, I know, but it’s very versatile. Super easy, super clean, super great.The ruler measuring feature is a nice touch although the coloring does make it rather difficult to see the words that are printed on it. No big deal, it’s a nice touch but hardly a totally necessary feature.You can fold it or roll it for easy storage… I chose to roll it to avoid any creases. It washes up very easily.Overall, I am super stoked to have it. I originally put it in my bread proofing box but quickly realized that the “clean zone” husband-tornado-defense feature needed to be an every day thing. Haha. As large as it is, it still tucks in neatly by my bread box. Excellent.

28" X 20" - Large food-grade silicone mat for bread making and other uses

This food grade silicone mat (brand: Quellance) has a generous working area of 28" X 20".  I love this relatively large size as the main reason for ordering it is for kneading, shaping and rolling out dough.  I won't feel restricted and no worries that flour will easily get outside the mat and spread all over the kitchen counter.  This new mat is of the same thickness (0.02") as the other silicone mats I use for baking cookies.  Once laid out, it stays really flat. It is also non-skid and non-stick.  It is high quality, flexible and can be rolled up and tied for easy and space-saving storage (as shown).  I enjoy the light grey color on this mat. There is one trade-off. The soft grey color has resulted in the texts and measurements not appearing as crispy as one would like.  Fortunately, for my needs and applications, the center circle guides for dough diameters are clear and legible enough. Those are the markings I'd be using most of the time.As for keeping it clean and grease free, it can be washed by hand with dish detergent. It is good to know that it is also dishwasher safe.  I may leave it on the top rack of the dishwasher next time and then compare the results.  Some of my other silicone mats get stained while the top coating will wear off after repeated use in the oven.  If this mat is only for dough preparation, I'm sure it will have a longer life span than those dedicated for oven use.Overall, I'm pleased with the quality of this silicone mat. I have seen people on Youtube kneading their dough directly on the kitchen counter.  I don't think our counter will ever be food-safe for bread dough kneading.   This mat is an excellent accessory to keep our counter cleaner and bread-making more hygienic.

Perfect for sourdough prep. w multiple loaves

As a single person who aspires-but-fails to eat a full, 500g flour loaf before it's inedible, I finally gave up and making half loaves. I've used silicon cookie sheet mats to prep my full loaves, and they were great. But when I switched to 2 half loaves instead, the mat wasn't large enough.This was exactly what I was looking for! Thin, LARGE silicon mat (that can be FOLDED for storage-- it's shipped flat folded!) that says it's nonstick wo flour (i still use flour). I had plenty of space to prep my two loaves tonight without any risk of shared workspace (one of these is a jalapeño cheddar loaf, the other is a chocolate croissant loaf).I know other ppl prep their bread directly on counters, but I am always worried my counter may not be Pristine Clean, or there is cleaner chemical residue. Having a mat I can easily clean with hot soapy water, then air dry, used only for baking prep is really fantastic.The full list price of $27 would make me think about whether this was an item I actually /need/ vs want, but at the current sale price of more than 30%, I'd order in a heartbeat.

Wide and wonderful!

This silicone mat is big, and that is so nice while making different baked goods. I make different bread items like cinnamon rolls and roll out pastries. This mat will be perfect for these items.I have a smaller one but the flour still gets all over the counter, whereas this mat at 28”x20” is a good size to work on and contain the mess. Easy clean up.Not only is the mat big, but it is thick too. It feels very durable with the grid of woven fibers that makes it even stronger. I also appreciate the inches and centimeters on the sides because some of my recipes instruct you to make the dough a specific length and width.There are no instructions with the mat and for the size, you couldn’t use it in the oven unless it is alright to place the mat directly on the oven rack. I’m not going to test this out as the mat is too nice to ruin. The manufacturer claims that it is possible to bake on the mat, but I’m sure it must need to be in a pan or on a cookie sheet to bake with.I just got an oversized rolling pin for my sugar cookie and this mat is the answer for rolling large amounts on. I especially like the markings for circular items like pies and quiches.By throwing a little flour on the surface before beginning to roll, nothing will stick to the mat.This works well with so many projects where I have been fighting my small mat. I can’t wait for the grandkids to come over and make some sugar cookies with them.
