    Great idea-Fantastic bowls!

I was really happy to find these and had no idea anyone was even making such a thing. Its a pain to have to clean my bowl when I need to use my mixer for multiple items in one cooking session. I actually have two bowls for my mixer for that reason but I still need more sometimes. These you just pop in when need and pop it out and put another one in when changing ingredients. Saves so much time and water. These bowls are specifically for the 5 quart tilt back Kitchen aid. I have the bowl lift 5.5 quart model but thought I would take a chance that these would still work. Even if they didn't they are still good free standing bowls to use when you need multiples. You will see in my pictures they do not fit tight to the edge and are slightly taller due to my bowl being a different size, however they still worked just fine. Nothing spilled out of the top into the silver bowl and the silicone bowl did not move around either. There is a vent hole in the top of the lid so if you were to use these for storing food you would want to cover that vent but super easy to do with some foil or cellophane wrap. They nest together for storage or you can flatten them together for even tighter storage. They are dishwasher and microwave safe. I am super happy with these little time saving bowls. If you bake you will know what I mean.

Set of Three Silicone Bowls for Tilt Head Stand Mixers

This is a three piece set of Silicone Bowl Liners with lids, specifically designed for a tilt head KitchenAid Stand Mixer. My mixer is a very old Sears mixer and these still work with it well. I do think, that they would only work on a tilt head mixer of any brand, however.I never thought much about having liners for my mixing bowls, but after trying them out, I understand what a time saver they can be if you are making large batches of your recipes but want to save some for later baking. Although, I have never tried Fermenting food in any quantity, I can certainly see how these could help.First, before using, check for compatibility with your mixer. Next, make sure each bowl and lid has been thoroughly washed and dried before using. Then place one bowl in your metal or glass bowl and make sure it has a smooth fit. After you make your recipe that you want to keep in the refrigerator, make sure you lift the head of the mixer first. THEN put the lid on before lifting the bowl out. Otherwise, I find it it too difficult to get the lid on well. The lids each have two holes in them, that can be covered or uncovered by just placing the little piece on the top of the lid over the holes or not. This set includes a red, black and white bowl.If you do fermenting, I would definitely leave them uncovered. However, if you are making large batches of cookies that require refrigeration before baking, cover the holes up.I wished I had them for my Christmas cookies that I refrigerate overnight. Then I could make super large batches of cookies. Each of the three bowls could hold a batch of different flavors. These bowls do compress and stack, once cleaned and dried. They arrive in a plastic zippered bag which I would recommend keeping them in for easy storage and use. These are probably the most heavy duty silicone I have seen. They don't compress as easily as most do, making them safer to use. Because silicone has never held their shape well, I normally don't use it especially for baking or hot foods. These are better than most, but their usage would be limited in my home to holidays.Still, all in all, I would recommend them because of their quality, and when I host holiday meals, their usefulness will become exponentially more important.

Where were these during the Christmas baking season?

I wish I had these during Christmas! They are so handy!Made of tough, heavy silicone, these liners can take a beating! All other silicone baking items I’ve owned in the past have been flimsy, so the weight and sturdiness of them really surprised me. These things mean business! They fit into my older Kitchen Aid just fine. I was a little worried but I guess I shouldn’t have been. The bowls themselves are great but the lids add something special. You can straight from mixing your dough/batter/whatever to the fridge or counter. No need for plastic wrap! And, if whatever it is you’re preparing needs to vent, that’s ok, too! The lids have vent holes in them that can be open or closed with a removable stopper. These bowls stack and can also be collapsed to save precious cabinet space. They are easy to clean and are dishwasher safe. The product details list says they are also microwave safe but I’m not brave enough to test that. When I first selected these bowls, the listed price was much higher at $99.99. I don’t think I could have made myself buy them at that price, no matter how badly I wanted them. However, I feel the new listed price of $49.99 is reasonable for what you get. It’s still a bit high but this is KitchenAid we are talking about. The mixer and all things related to it are pricey but turn out to be worth it. These are no exception.

Make sure you have the 5 qt Mixer!

Unfortunately for us, we have the wrong size bowl so we were not able to really give these products a solid test while using the mixer. So if you do decide to get these, just make sure that your mixer is the 5 Qt and don't do like we did! That being said they are made very well and it's nice that they collapse like they do so that you can store them easier. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a drawer or cabinet to keep all your large mixing bowls in so this helps solve that problem! From the photos online, they show these being used in the microwave and refrigerator, making popcorn and other items. I think as long as you have something that is heavier in them they would stand just fine and be useful for that. I don't know that popping popcorn would work well since they do come down to a small point at the bottom of the bowl and require some substance to be in there to allow them to sit flat. They were designed to match the Kitchen Aid bowl after all so this makes sense. As long as you have the correct size mixer, and you do not mine spending the money, these could be a good fit for you. For us we will continue to just use the steel bowl without a liner.
