I knew we were having issues with the old drying mat by our kitchen sink. It just wasn’t angled enough, so water would pool and eventually turn it into a soggy mess. Great for its Size, but Lack of Drainage Defeats the Purpose
This mat would be PERFECT except for the fact that it cannot drain to save its life. It is a nice quality, and the ribs are tall enough that you can stack dishes in a precarious height; it's very good. But it's completely flat, and, for its size, it needs to have some sort of elevation. In my house, we managed to resolve the issue by putting literal construction shims underneath. But the graded height exists in other silicone mats of a smaller size; don't understand why not here?

I am hoping silicone will be easier to deal with because we wash dishes exclusively by hand and need a good drainer set-up on our counter. The mat is well-made with no defects and sits firmly on my counter.The first thing I noticed is that it really does not drain well if your sink mounts over your countertop. I had to pull the front lip way out over the sink to get it to sag a little so it drains the water and that really didn't work that well! The photos in the ad show it used with both a sink mounted over the counter and one mounted under the counter but it really is best for those mounted under.The grooves in it are good for draining bowls and cups, but plates are not comfortable draining here unless you lay them flat. I will be using a draining basket on top of the mat so that won't be a problem.I love the size! It's much bigger than my hard plastic one and will work perfectly with my basket which wants the silverware cup mounted on the outside of the basket! I was always getting water on the counter due to the other tray being too small and I lost space for dishes because I had to jury-rig the silverware basket inside the the drainer.It IS very soft and floppy but I like it that way because it will stay put on my counter. I have laminate right now but soon I will have new granite and that will be even more slippery so I'm glad this mat is on the soft, grippy, side.Overall, I can recommend this drainage mat 100% IF you have an undercounter-mounted sink. Just be aware of it's limitations for over-mounted sinks and figure out if you can work with that. The size might make up for any hassle I have to go thru to get it to drain well, we'll see.

This silicone dish drying mat is a serious drying mat. Whoever designed this wanted it to be multi functional and sturdy. They succeeded on all counts. First of all, this thing is HEAVY. This drying mat will outlast any kitchen product in the world. In fact, it will outlast any kitchen in the world. The mat is constructed with rows of elevated 'fins' so that when rinsed dishes are placed on it. the dishes stay up out of the dripping water. The dripping water drains out the spout and back into the sink. The mat is very large, which adds to the heft. It can also be used under a traditional dish drainer, which is a great feature. This silicone mat is heat resistant, so it can also be used alongside a grill to rest barbecue spatulas, etc. Again, because of the raised fins, any food particles or oil will just drain down and the utensils will stay nice resting on top of the raised fins. I mentioned that this mat is large and heavy. Storing it will require a large space on a shelf in a cabinet or pantry. It can be rolled up, and kept rolled with a large rubber band or similar item. If you need a heavy duty drainer, this is the one to get. You will never wear it out or need to buy another.
