Well-designed and well-made large silicone spatula. Handwash only.

This is a generous size large spatula. It is 11 ¼”long and 2 3/8" wide. And the silicon portion is a full 7” long. It even has an inverted dimple so you can rest it with tip not touching counter of stove top. It also has a hole in handle and included hook, so you can hang it if you wish.The materials seem, so far, to be well-formed and durable.Generally speaking there are two types of these spatulas: one type, often referred to as a “hybrid” where there is an internal stiffing piece, of some kind of metal, plastic or wood. And another type where the only material in the head is an inherently strong silicone formulation.,The advantage of an internally stiffened design is that it is considerably firmer and less floppy, while still being gentle on your cookware. But there is a disadvantage in quite often that internal material will for one reason or another, for example, dishwasher cleaning or simply immersion during use, get some slow moisture ingress and the wood will swell or metal will corrode, and this will cause the spatula or other implement like spoon or turner to fail, typically with silicone splitting at the thin end.This one is internally stiffened. Most likely with the composite bamboo wood that serves also as handle. The top of the spatula is stiff, but the quality and durability is great.

I ordered this heavy duty silicone and wood rubber scraper, because my family breezes through these utensils, if they're not well made, so I thought this looked like a solid option.It arrived in a decent box, that had giftability value. Upon opening, there were no off-putting or chemical scents. The colors and design looked exactly like the listing photos.I love the spoon rest feature, because it's so convenient to be able to set it down without making a mess (when I remember to put it on the proper side). The S hook it comes with, makes it even more convenient, because I can just have it right next to my oven, rather than having to search for it in a cluttered drawer.The listing clearly states the cleaning instructions, and recommends hand washing, so I'm not even going to test it out in the dishwasher, because I want it to last.The only thing that threw me off a bit, was how stiff the silicone scraper part was. It feels like the wood goes almost all the way to the top, and then there's about a 1/2" to a quarter inch of flexible silicone at the very tip and edges. So if you're looking for a flimsy scraper, this is probably not the best option for you.I think that will add to the overall durability of the spatula, but only time will tell. If a problem arises, I will update my review, but so far, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of this product. $9.99 is a great price for what you're getting here.

Great addition to my new silicone kitchen utensils

Recently, I decided to throw away all of my plastic old spatulas and flippers and spoons and replace them with silicone. Period this is the second item I’ve received from this company. I definitely highly recommend their products. This spatula is definitely heavy duty. It’s really great for either mixing or stirring or scraping out bowls etc.Silicone is a nonstick cookware, and this company‘s product is definitely nonstick. I received this one in black. This spatula has a wooden handle that has a hole at the end that you can put the included hook through and hang your spatula. As with the other products from this company I reviewed I don’t like the wooden handle. I would rather have solid silicone from the spatula all the way to the end. I just find it. It’s hard to grip and can be a little slippery if your hands are wet.Each spatula is 11.4 inches long. The handle that is wood is 4.3 inches and the silicone part of the spatula is 7.1 inches. The spatula end is 2.3 inches wide. This is a flat spatula so there’s no groove like the spoon spatula. But I really like both.This is a food grade silicone and heat resistant to 446°F or 230°C. It has a beveled edge to scrape the bowl, very convenient to store and comes with a free hook. This is so easy to clean you can hand wash or it is a dishwasher safe. There is a knob on the back of the spatula for resting, but I also found that it is great to hook on the side of your pan or pot so it doesn’t fall into your soup, etc. BPA free.I gave this four stars because of the handle. It has a varnish on it so I’m not sure how well it will hold up in the dishwasher. Also, I don’t like how it’s two pieces. Eventually, I think the spatula will come apart from the silicone.

Not a wimpy spatula!

This is a really sturdy spatula and is exactly as the title describes - it is for tough stirring. I'm used super flexible spatulas so initially was a bit disappointed it was so stiff. But then, that's exactly how it is supposed to be. It still has just enough flexibility to be able to scrape out a bowl well, but is perfect for those heavier batters, doughs, or thick stews.It has a wooden handle and then the stiff silicone blade and fits in the hand nicely. I absolutely LOVE that it includes a built in rest so you can set it on the counter without getting whatever you just stirred smeared all over your counter (or dirty a plate or waste a paper towel).They include a hook for hanging which is a nice touch, but I don't hang any of my utensils - and frankly - don't know anyone who does so it feels like a bit of a waste but perhaps someone out there will use it.For $10 - it's a good value and seems to be built well to last.
