Nice one piece design it’s even long enough for a half gallon BALL jar!
Myself, like many others, was looking for a sourdough starter jar spatula for a quart size jar but I was tossed between this one by UpGood (UG) and a similar black and white one by OXO, so I got both to compare them. They are both nice and sturdy, well made products and both are about the same length and same scraper size but they do have differences. I like the one piece design of this one by UpGood, the OXO does have a seam which concerned me, but on close inspection it’s a very tight seam and very sturdy and I much preferred the wider handle on the OXO, it was definitely more comfortable to use and hold on to when reaching it into a deeper jar then a one quart size, which these are both plenty long enough to manage.. This UG brand with its very narrow, skinny handle was much harder for my clumsy hands to get a grip on, it’s too thin, especially if your hands are wet or oily or you have arthritis. The scraper part is the same size on both brands but the OXO was a bit more flexible on the sides which made it scrape better then the stiffer sides on the UG. The tip of the OXO is flexible to about 1/4” while this UG has about 3/4” flexibility at the tip, both have a rigid interior core that stops before the flexible tip. The white part on the OXO did tend to stain when used with chilies in my mortar and pestle and tomato paste, the black on the UG doesn’t show stains. They are both excellent products and I would have been happy with either one but having used both, I would probably go for the OXO simply for ergonomics, it is much more comfortable for me to hold and use but they are both very good products and I’m glad I have both, you can never have to many long thin spatulas! This is a very good product especially for smaller hands. Take a look at the photo with all the different jar sizes this will easily reach! It even works in my huge half gallon BALL jar and a COSTCO giant 64 ounce mayo jar!
