Keeps spatter away
I’m giving it a 5 star rating because of the folding handle, ease of cleaning and that it keeps spatters away. However, since it’s not like a window screen the condensation builds up on side that’s covering pan. So be careful when removing from pan as the hot condensation will run off

I'm getting into mediterranean cooking and this screen is very handy, not only because it folds. The best feature is that it's so easy to clean because it's made out of silicone. NThe net-type of splatter guards still allow for splatters to escape. Yuck!

I was skeptical, but it works well!
I've had a classic all-metal mesh splatter screen for many years. The mesh is falling out and parts are rusting. But since the metal mesh has much smaller holes than this silicone splatter screen, I was skeptical whether it would really prevent splatters as well as the metal mesh does because of the much larger holes. And I think it did a good job anyway.I didn't have a good scientific method to test it, and the nature of my first cooking method with this resulted in splatters around the skillet anyway because of having to remove the screen at various times. But I tried to gauge the screen's effectiveness by looking at how much grease or oil had splattered through the holes and onto the _top_ of the silicone. After cooking a skillet of chicken breasts, the top still looked fairly clean. It fits perfectly on top of my 12" Lodge cast-iron skillet.I really like how easy this is to clean by hand or in a dishwasher. It's easy to store, too, because the handle can fold in. But that folding handle has my one complaint about this splatter screen. You squeeze the sides of the handles to "unlock" its position before folding it. But those moving parts have nothing restricting their full movement across the small bar. Thus, as you can see in my second photo, usually only one side will move, leaving the handle still locked in place. That requires using both hands to unlock the handle: one hand to squeeze and unlock the handle, the other hand to hold the rest of this stationary so the two parts of the handle unlock properly. A simple way to fix this would have been to put a ridge or bump in the middle to prevent one side of the handle from sliding all the way to the other side.

Survived high heat!
Works! Threw in dishwasher, no worries about it rusting if I didn’t get it taken out right away. Handle nice, easy to handle. Worth paying more for something that will last longer than the regular thin wired ones that get bent out of shape so easily! Worked perfectly on my 12” lodge cast iron skillet! So much less grease to clean up!!

Good idea, but with some issues
Great idea to cut down odors, and there doesn't seem to be many that claim to do that. However there's some plusses and minuses...Plus--The carbon filter definitely cuts down on smells and aerosols, my wife is very sensitive to fried food smells.Seems well made, the handle folds up for compact storage. It works ok without without the filter, but larger holes allow a little more splatter. It comes with 3 filters, but I'm not sure how long the filters will last, or if they are washable. The silicone part probably is washable but haven't washed it yet.Minus- The top round piece that holds in the filter falls off easily while in use, and it is tricky to get back on. It also "bubbles" up in use, not a big issue but I'd rather it stay flat.I don't see any real advantage over a standard metal splatter if you don't use the filter.Won't fit 11" or larger pans, though the item description is clear on this
