This is a wonderful teapot for use with a microwave. When you bring thae water to a boil, the handle stays cool. It looks great and does everything that I need.
I started drinking hot tea on a daily basis not long ago, in part to cut down on my wine consumption:) I was frustrated the tea in an open measuring cup and it getting cold before I could finish it. (I don't like putting my cup in the microwave. No clue why that bothers me.) Anyway, I wanted a teapot that could go on the stove or in the microwave either one. This is perfect. Nice thin, borosilicate glass. Very pretty. Not heavy. Tougher than it looks. I heat the water in the microwave for 3 minutes, steep for 3 or 4 minutes, throw away the teabag, sit the pot on a little electric mug warmer, and have a nice hot pot of tea good for two or three cups. Best part of all, the spout is so well designed that when I pour the tea and sit it back on the warmer, it only drips one tiny tiny drop of tea down the front of the pot. Dries before it gets to the bottom. No mess. Like it so much I bought another one to have at work.
Perfect teapot for boiling water for my teas and coffee. I prefer glass over any other material since it is the healthiest and doesn't leach anything. This works for both electric or gas stove, I have used it on both. I have used this particular brand for years and it's the best out there (there are some cheaper Chinese products out there).Even though the glass is strong and resistant to high temperatures, it is thin and so you have to be careful bumping it into something, because it will break if you are not careful handling it. As long as you don't mind that it's more fragile than teapots from other materials this thing will give you many years of use. I have had this particular teapot for almost a year and use it several times a day without breaking it (I have broken some Simax teapots in the past by accidentally bumping something). I have several other teapots from Simax but use this size the most, it is perfect for 1 or 2 people.
I ordered the Simax Glass Teapot For Stovetop: Glass Tea Kettle For Stove Top - Tea Pots For Stove Top - Stovetop & Microwave Safe Kettles For Boiling Water - Clear Glass Tea Pot With Spout -1 Quart/4 Cup Teapots.First off, this is a nice study glass, made in the Czech Republic 🇨🇿. Though not as thick as say a USA made Pyrex measuring cup, it is far better quality than a standard Chinese glass teapot.I have run the pot through the dishwasher, had it in the refrigerator, put it in the microwave, set it on an electric cup warmer, used it with an open flame metal tea candle warmer, and placed it directly on my glass stovetop. The only time I have had issues so far is when I placed it on the stove with milk in it (I'm still getting used to the direct heat of the glass surface). Even so, after a bit of soaking, I was able to clean it again with a sponge and Dawn dish soap. And, in the microwave, milk is fine (the shape works great for hot chocolate bombs). The handle is large enough to easily hold, and does not transfer heat causing burns. The lid stays on fairly well, even when tipping out the last of the tea.The spout does not drip down the front after pouring, but can splash a little if the lid is on and you are too impatient to pour slowly. However, the lid does a fantastic job of allowing the tea to pour, but holding the loose leaves or fruits. The amount you can keep in it is easily enough for 8 people to have 1-2 teacups each before needing a refill. This works great as a kettle, teapot, and pitcher. It looks especially beautiful with loose leaf teas, blooming teas, and dark colored fruit based teas (especially over a flame due to the glow).
I bought this to boil water in the microwave. I note that the shape of the pot makes it difficult to use for that purpose because the shape and size of the handle makes it difficult to comfortably move the pitcher once the water is boiling water. I think it is too small for your hand to comfortably move the pitcher and I have small hands.
perfect for 2 people to share 1-2 cups of tea (depending on your cup size). the glass lid gets hotter than the handle and not bob-knobbed to easily grab to remove quickly before pouring but is flat-knobbed making it clumsy removal when hot.
It's nice to have a teapot that can go in the microwave. It takes about 6 minutes on the high setting to boil a full pot, which is enough for two large cups of tea. The handle stays cool even when the water is boiling.
