There is so much that I like about this knife. It was quite sharp right out of the box. And since it is made of VG10 steel it should retain its edge through serious use before it needs resharpening. The heel of the knife is shaped so that one is unlikely to inadvertently cut oneself during use. All of this at a surprisingly low price.

Nice sharp knife, the handle seems of for my hand through. Just seems off to me, I need to hold the knife closer to the blade with my hand. I still like it just need to get used to the handle. It could just be me. I do like the knife and use a honing rod to keep it sharp every few uses.

excellent, very sharp, high quality steel

First, this is a very sharp knife. When I tested it, I got a BESS score of 95. That is between a utility knife and a double edge razor blade. Sharp enough to slice you without you knowing until you see the blood. Handle with care.I have a few quality Japanese knives and the better ones are made of VG10 steel, and have an edge angle of 9 to 12 degrees. This knife is made using VG10 steel. It is very strong/hard, and will retain its edge for quite some time (as long as it is taken care of). The knives made from harder steel can also hold a finer edge, and this falls right in line with that, with an edge angle of 12 degrees. Please do not just toss this in a drawer. Put it in a knife block, on a magnetic rack, or in a sheath. Also do NOT run this through the dishwasher. Over time, the high heat will damage the forge on the steel and it will not retain its sharpness as long.This feels great in the hand and is very easy to work with. The only issue I have (and it is rather mild) is that the handle is a tiny bit too smooth. I find I have to grip it a little tighter than my other knives. This is an excellent knife and at an excellent price.
