I never knew I needed one of these so much! Amazing cheese slicer!
I got this SlidingSusan Cheese Cutting Board for my whole family to use, but especially for my mother. My parents are with us, so we (hubby, me, & our kids) can help them as they age and we get the bonus of having them around so much! No - that was not sarcastic. I mean it! My mama is like my best friend! That's beside the point. Anyway, my hubby LOVES cheese, so do I, and my mom does, who doesnt love cheese? But she loves Charcuterie Boards. I saw this and thought well, she can make her own now and we can enjoy them way more often lol! So - semi selfish reason for getting this for her and our household. We got the Beech Wood with the silver handle.First and something I absolutely love to see - this is hand crafted and made in the USA! Way to go! This company is out of Arizona and I'm waving at y'all from Alabama! Thank you for making a wonderful, great quality product here in the US! I really appreciate that! So, that had to be the first thing I mentioned. We are getting too far away from hand made products and I love it when I find one - and for the company - Kudos to y'all!This is a good size board too! Its listed, basically as an 11" board, but the dimensions are 10.5"L x 7.5"W x 2" thick. Just right for what we needed. This thing slices through cheese like a dream! I'm a crappy cutter - whether it be home made bread or a block of cheese. I never get the thickness even or right, much less do it repeatedly correctly & well. I REALLY mess up on thinner slices and I usually wind up with half of it see through or the bottom ¼ of the piece just missing. I told yall, I'm a crappy cutter of things where food is concerned. This remedies that totally! If this little cutter can make my cheese cuts look like a pro did it than this thing is worth its weight in gold! I was seriously impressed. Its hard to make anything cooking or food wise that I have anything to do with look good, so yeah, this thing is wonderful for me! (I'm not the best cook, thankfully my hubby and my mom are, I guess I need to learn at this point and yes, that's sad lol!) This has easily handled any kind of block of cheese we've thrown at it from cheap Kraft blocks to the more expensive cuts in the fancy shapes lol! It handles them all perfectly!This also will cut butter too! My mother buys the large bricks of butter, I think its Amish made butter, I could be wrong there though, and its crazy hard and crazy thick - just a big rectangular slab o' butter. She has these cool little glass top things that hold butter to let it go to room temp and you just get what you need. She loves her cool little things like that - things I've usually never heard of ever being a thing haha! So this is great for cutting those larger butter blocks down to more manageable sizes and even then, into smaller little pieces for her room temp butter house - or whatever those things are called. I'm not well versed in kitchen or food gadgets so, apologies in advance for my weird way of explaining some things! The stainless steel wire just slices right on through whatever you need it to...I mean within reason. Of course.The listing says it will even slice meat! We have not tried that yet, but once my mom finds out you bet she's going try it. Lol! Plus my dad loves to cook meat, and both he and my hubby love fresh cut meat for sandwiches. So that will be another regular use for this awesome slicer! Something so simple yet so helpful and useful - I'm sad I've gone 46 years without this in my life. I have suggested to several of my friends they should get one of these. Maybe its my age group, but they are all within about 5 years of my age (I'm 46) and none of my friends knew what this was without being told either - and most of them are amazing cooks, unlike me.This is a GREAT tool for any kitchen. It makes for a beautiful way to present finger foods/snacks at any gathering and make it look like you spent WAY more money than you did. It really helps with minimizing the mess you leave in the kitchen too. Because of the wire and the nice handle, you don't have crumbs from the cheese - like a hard cheese I would normally strongly consider pulling out a handsaw for, this handles hard cheese with gentle precision and grace...if cheese can have grace. Wait - I'm Southern, everything has a little grace in it somewhere! The look is very minimalist but its perfect. This would also make an amazing gift for anyone that likes cooking and/or entertaining with these types of finger foods too! It makes clean up easy when its all done and served right on this board.I handwash this, of course. I use a more gentle soap on it too. I actually use a baby bottle soap that I found when our youngest was first born (she is 10 now), but its called Dapple Bottle Soap. That would get the nastiest of milk smells our of any cup! I mean anything. If a cup was rolled under the black hole that lives beneath our big couch, and there was a little milk in it, found weeks later, in a VERY sour state, this soap got all that out. No lasting smell, no issues. Its a very gentle soap and that is great for a lot of things. I use it to handwash all of my wooden stuff for the kitchen, including this cheese slicing board. It works super well! Just a little tip for yall.Bottom line - this is an AMAZING slicing board! I am beyond happy I found this and was able to get it for my household. We have gifted this to 2 people, one of my friends and one of my mother's friends. Both absolutely loved it and use it quite often! The price is wonderful too! This is a handmade item that looks nice, is very well made, works beautifully, and it did not make me cry when I went to check the price! That's rare these days! I absolutely recommend this board, regardless of the wood or handle color you choose. You will be getting a really nice hand crafted and made in the USA slicing board! I love mine, my mother loves it, my hubby and my dad loves it, and everyone that has seen it asks me where I get it and requests the link to buy one. That says it all. If you are looking for one of these, this is definitely one you should be seriously considering. I can't recommend this enough. I would give this 10 stars if I could!
