Handy little tea pot to make my white tea. Was a bit worried about the cast iron rusting but it haven't happened yet

Good Quality, Functional and Attractive

This is an excellent little teapot. It holds 16 ozs of water -- I measured -- and it is enough for a good sized cuppa. It is made of cast iron, so it is a bit heavy. I don't find that a problem, but some people might find the weight uncomfortable. The handle is wood. I believe that if you heated the pot over an open flame, you would want to be certain you kept the flame medium or low, to avoid charing the bottom of the wood handle. I heated my tea on medium heat and found that the handle did not get hot. The design on the sides is part of the casting -- it is a raised design that has been painted with silver and gold metallic paint. I found the painting not precise, but it's not noticeable unless you are looking at it very closely. Having been looking for a small teapot, this fits the bill for me, as I make my tea just a cup at a time. It has a small footprint and fits on the top of my stove and fits right in with my cast iron skillet which I also keep on the stovetop. There comes included with purchase a stainless steel tea ball, and a tea towel. The tea towel is for drying the inside of the cast iron teapot once you're finished. You don't want to let cast iron stay wet -- it is prone to rust. I am pleased with this little pot, happy it's made of natural materials, and I love the size and design. It's perhaps a little pricey, but it's cast iron and will probably outlast me. I think it's well worth it.

Cast iron is awesome

Cast iron teapots are interesting to me because I’ve read that water boiled in them is sweeter and has a natural iron boost in it, making the tea taste better. I’m usually a bit low in iron so supplementing through my tea is appealing. While I like this set, I mostly just use the pot. The cups are too small and feel cheaply made, and I don’t really need the warmer, though it may come in handy sometime. I do use the towel too. The pot has a nice hefty feel and I love the look of it except for the printed “Sechudo” on the handle, which doesn’t look nice but I try to ignore it. It would have been much cooler in kanji! The pot holds two cups of water and it takes a good long time to boil: on my gas stovetop it’s at least 15 minutes. I use the smallest burner and the pot’s handle gets only slightly warm, so I don’t need the towel or any hand protection to use the pot after it has boiled. Following the few commonsense instructions included with this set should keep it nice for many, many years.

Prettiest tea set I have ever seen.

This looks better in person. I wasn't sure I would like the bird, but I do... there's just one, and it's small and a lovely copper color. It's hard to go wrong with cast iron, especially if it's meant just for tea. The texture of the inside of the pot is rougher than any of my other cast iron cookware, but I don't see that as a problem. A warm iron pot will dry quickly. The handle goes on smoothly, and is very solid when attached. The pot pours nicely, and comfortably holds about 16oz. I've never had coated steel cups before, but I like them. They're very smooth, and match the pot a lot better than the photos show. The tea ball is just a steel tea ball, and the towel is just a towel - it looks like microfiber. The warmer, though... as lovely as the pot is, the warmer may be the best piece. A small iron warmer for a 1-2 person nabe pot suits the size of this tea pot better, IMO... The one that comes with this set is large enough to warm a family size hot pot. I do believe you could put an alcohol burner or your favorite brand of canned heat in it and cook in this, if you had a mind to, and when I try it I will update this review. And, the lid is a footed trivet. Nearly my whole kitchen is wood and cast iron, so I love a good trivet! Beautiful find - and now I'm going to go make tea. :)

Very nice little tea set. The art work on the pieces is really nice.

I got this for my wife, but unfortunately, she has too many tea sets already. Also unfortunately, I am not a tea drinker so I will not use it either but, here is my impression of it.Everything in this set is solid and sturdy. I was shocked at how heavy the box was when it arrived. This set is not light or cheaply made. the art on the various pieces is surprisingly beautiful. I would have to say that it could be indestructible but, I will have to see about that over time. The warming base is a bit lame but, I guess it is set up to be used with a can of sterno or something like that. It’s not anything I would ever use but I would bet a tea drinker would love this set.Shipping wasn’t all that fast but it arrived super well packaged and in perfect condition. I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM AND SELLER.

Meh

Something Japanese goes missing when Chinese companies make “Japanese-style” objects, and it is not good. At this price point around $85 I expected something pretty nice, but this tea set is kind of tacky. The cups are tiny and made of some TBD material (plastic?), the printed items look cheap, and in the end one wonders how safe it is to drink anything from a Chinese vessel – melamine milk anyone? I am also puzzled why there is no lid for the tea pot.
