It also handled hamburger buns easily, with clean, controlled slices.The main thing to understand is the angle and design. This is not like using a standard bread knife. You wouldn’t be able to cut a boule or baguette fully in half lengthwise, because the wooden handle limits that motion. Nice quality set, would be great as a gift.
I make bread from time to time, but don't have a dedicated knife and board setup. It's packaged nicely and would be suitable as a gift. The board is a good quality wood, although I'm unsure of the species. The knife sits nicely inside the board and sits flush, and is nice and sharp. I like that the knife is angled so that it acts as a stop of sorts to keep the bread slices a uniform size. All in all, I'd recommend purchasing it.

This set is made from high quality wood and has a good weight to it. The knife feels lightweight but slices bread perfectly. The knife is held in place in the board by two magnets, one of which fell off immediately. I am not deducting starts for this as the knife would stay in place securely without the magnets and I easily reglued the magnet in place. I think they are there so if you wish to hang the board, you could do so a bit more securely. I think you'd only do that if this was to be used as a purely decorative item. It is attractive enough to be used in this manner. It arrived packaged in a sturdy box with a ribbon around the cutting board so this would make a nice gift.
