Great for pizza making (just not for the dough)

I got these for pizza dough balls. Realistically they are just too small in diameter and you can't really use them for that. I gave in and bought those overpriced white proofing boxes which is what I recommend you do as well because those boxes really are the right tool for the job. Having said that, these silicone containers with lids are still great for making pizza. These things are PERFECT for pizza toppings. You can put a bunch of different toppings into different colors and stack them up vertical to save counter space while the toppings come up to room temp. When you're ready to make pizzas you can line them up with the lids off and have everything you need at your fingertips nice and organized. When you're done and have leftover toppings? Put on the lid and into the fridge it goes. Have an expensive 28oz can of DOP San Marzano tomatoes but not making that many pizzas? Put half the can into one of these containers and put it into the freezer. When you're done they clean up easily and you can stack them inside each other for compact storage. You can't microwave them and they are too small for dough balls but in every other way these containesr are great for everything related to prepping, using, and saving pizza-related things. I can't imagine making pizzas without them. Highly recommended, just be aware of what you'll really use them for.

Much better than a proofing box

I've been looking for a solution for storing/freezing my pizza dough balls. Bags are a pain because the seal wears out, they eventually tear, you can't thaw the dough in them, and I don't like the environmental impact of plastic. If you don't put them flat on the freezer surface the dough may turn into a weird shape.Proofing boxes are ok but they are too bulky and require an entire shelf in the fridge/freezer which I never have available. These silicone containers are designed for pizza dough and allow the dough to retain a wonderful round shape. You can stack them or place them anywhere in your freezer which is veeeery convenient. When I need to make pizza I simply take one out of the freezer and let the dough thaw. I don't have to move the dough to some other other container with flour so it is easier and less cleanup.. I can't speak to durability but they seem pretty sturdy.A few things to keep in mind:- These work for me because I only use them for storage when my dough balls are ready for the freezer. When I make dough I make poolish the day before in a different container first which is higher than these containers so that the poolish can rise properly. The following day I make the dough and store the dough balls in these containers. These containers are too small for proofing IMHO unless you make very small pizza dough balls. You will need to put plastic wrap on top because when the dough rises the first time it will push agains the cover. A few things to keep in mind:- If you stack these in your pantry for a long time when not using, they get a little sticky and may require some muscle to separate them (I hope with time they get a little easier to pull apart)- When you place the dough balls in these containers. Push the dough down gently to force it to spread to the sides so you reduce the possibility of the dough touching the cover and possibly popping the cover off while freezing which will ruin your dough.- These are best for pizzas of no more than 12-13" which is the biggest size you can make in most home stove ovens and low-mid end home pizza ovens. My pizza dough balls are ~ 340g-350g. I could probably go to 360g-370g. If you want to make larger size pizzas you probably will need a proofing box instead of these containers.- Add a little olive oil in the inside of each container's cover. When the dough goes into the freezer it will rise a little before it freezes. The same wil happen when you take the container out of the freezer and the dough begins to thaw. This will help to make sure the dough doesn't come apart when taking it out of the container.- When you take these containers out of the freeer/fridge after ~ 10 min. you may want to remove the cover and wipe out the condensed water which will likely fall into your dough.- When you take these out of the freezer the dough will begin to rise as it thaws and it will start to push against the cover and the cover will pop eventually exposing the dough to air which is a no no. I suspect this will happen with any dough ball that is 250g or more. You can do one of three things to get around this problem:1 - Setup a timer for 60-90 minutes so that when the dough has thawed enough but still not ready you can still take it out . Place it in your working surface and cover with a wet towel to keep it moist until it has defrosted completely and is ready for use.2 - Place plastic wrap all around the container when you take it out of the freezer so that when the top pops the dough will not be exposed to air.3 - (My favorite) Place a wet kitchen towel all around the container so that the dough is protected from direct exposure to air when the cover pops. You can use that same towel to clean up the work surface when you are done. For the manufacturer: Consider making these 1/2"-1" wider in diameter so that when the dough rises it will not make the cover popGo on and make some pizza!!!

While the containers nest for easy storage, the lids do not.

Perfect for proofing pizza dough in portions for a 12" pizza. Size lets you fit them into nooks and crannies in your refrigerator/freezer rather than having to dedicate an entire level or shelf.Storage and retrieval can be annoying as the tops do not nest, so you'll have a neat stack of bowls next to a random slipping and sliding pile of lids.Overall, they do what you want them to do.

The best of the dif dough containers I've tried

This is my second brand to try for pizza dough. These are superior to my first set. These are like many other pizza dough storage containers, but they also have lids that really click in place. Very happy with them.

These silicone containers work great for your dough storage, never had any problems with them!

I have 4 of the Green ones and purchased 3 of the Orange so when I make my NY style dough- the recipe makes 4 dough balls 250g or so and when I make Neapolitan style dough- the recipe makes 3 balls around 250, I can cold ferment everything in the fridge and not confuse the two when taking them out and preparing the two VERY different pizzas. These silicone containers work extremely well and so do their tops.Full disclosure: Great product, I paid for mine and have not been incentivize to post anything positive about them. I just use them without worry.
