Just as good as titanium. Great handle! Great price!
This is my newest cutting board. It’s double-sided, and mine is a roomy 15”x11” - plenty big enough for whatever I’m cutting! It is entirely surrounded by an outer border, which thankfully helps it to grip the surface of your counter, island, or table, enabling it to remain stationary as you employ your knife: a good safety attribute. One side of this board is gleaming stainless steel, a great surface for cutting meats, fish and poultry. Stainless steel is very easy to clean. It won’t absorb unwanted color or odors. Unlike traditional wooden chopping boards, stainless steel has no tiny nooks and crannies into which unwanted bacteria might nestle. I appreciate being able to truly sanitize this after preparing meats. This side also has a blood groove running around its entire perimeter; again, this is a useful and practical addition. Another bonus is the attractive, modernistic handle, which allows the board to hang during storage, and which provides you with an easy way to flip sides. Yes, cutting on the steel surface means that eventually your knives will require sharpening. I’m fine with that minor trade-off. I am a home cook and my knives were not an excruciatingly high investment. I’m ok with sharpening them occasionally. The flip side of this board is made of wheat straw polypropylene. This is a hybrid material composed of wheat straw fibers combined with PP, with the ecological goal of reducing the amount of plastic we all use. Generally most Wheat straw PP is BPA-free and is considered to be food safe. This side is textured and though I have not had any staining issues, it makes sense to me that it is less impervious to stains than is stainless.I agree with most users that this board offers us a good alternative to having two separate boards, one for meats and one for fruits and veggies. I would suggest that intensely staining ingredients like beets are probably best cut on the stainless side, rather than risking that your wheat straw side may become an indelibly day-go magenta.Overall this is a very practical, well-designed cutting board with a sleek, modern look. This is well made item and a good value for your kitchen.
When I heard "stainless steel cutting board," my brain went straight to the harsh screech of a knife on metal, and I imagined my poor knife blades weeping. I thought it was a recipe for dull disaster. Boy, was I wrong. This board is a hefty, solid piece of kit. One side is a smooth, seamless sheet of stainless steel that’s incredibly easy to wipe clean and is completely impervious to stains or smells. The other side is made from a composite material (wheat straw and PP plastic) that has a slight texture, perfect for when you want a bit more grip on your ingredients. The whole thing has a thick, grippy silicone border that keeps it firmly planted on the counter—no more dangerous board-sliding during a vigorous chop. Now, for the hope. I need this board to be the last cutting board I buy for a long, long time. I'm counting on the steel to resist warping and the composite side to withstand daily knife work without getting shredded. If it lives up to its tough appearance, it’s a total game-ender.My Chop-Chop Analysis:What I’m absolutely loving:· The stainless steel side is a godsend for raw meat, garlic, onions, or beets. No stains, no lingering odors, ever.· It is indeed dishwasher safe, which is the ultimate luxury for a cutting board.· The weight and non-slip border make it incredibly stable and safe to use.· It looks sleek and modern, not like a beat-up old plank. What gave me a moment’s pause:· The steel side is very smooth. If you’re used to a grippy wooden board, your ingredients might slide a bit more.· The clink of the knife on steel is a different sound that takes a little getting used to.· It’s heavy. This is not a light, flippable board. You lift it with purpose.· While great for knives, it’s not a surface you’d want to use for delicate tasks like rolling pastry dough. If you’re tired of stained, smelly, or warping cutting boards and want something indestructibly hygienic for the messy jobs, this board is a revelation. It’s for the practical cook who values cleanliness and durability over tradition. It won’t replace a beautiful wooden board for serving cheese, but it will become your go-to for every single messy, smelly, juice-leaking prep task. My knives are fine, my counter is safe, and my garlic-tainted days are over.
I've been cooking since I was 4 years old and started out using wood cutting boards (pretty much all they had back then). In the last 5 decades, they've come out with tons of cutting board options and I think I've tried most of them?Wooden boards lost their appeal a very long time ago. I tried a glass cutting board once and the memory still haunts me. Those thin plastic (eventually disposable) ones have been in use the longest, primarily out of convenience. When I saw this stainless steel cutting board I was hesitant, but I really liked the look, the dual functionality (I'm not a fan of cross contamination and have different colored cutting boards for different foods), and the handle for some reason. I just hoped the stainless steel side didn't end up making sounds like the glass cutting board. 😬I can tell you, after 2 weeks of almost daily use, it is fantastic. To be honest, I've only used the steel side. I started out with concerns that whatever I was cutting would slip or slide, so I've cut vegetables, fruit, meat--cooked and raw (not at the same time obvs). It's held up great. The second photo is after being regularly used.Have I noticed any impact on it dulling my knives more quickly? Not really. But I also don't have a set of premium knives that are professionally sharpened on the regular. I sharpen them as needed, when I remember, or when I realize I'm sawing at something rather than slicing through it.Considering this cutting board will probably be my forever cutting board? The price is pretty reasonable since I won't have to spend anymore money on the disposable ones.
