Better than anticipated
I was not sure how I would like using a stainless steel cutting board, nor if it would be worth the $30 listed at the time of this review. I am very pleased with this board overall. One thing to note is that this is one (1) board, it does not separate into different pieces. I say this because when I glanced at the advertised images, I thought it was multiple boards in one set. However, the picture was merely illustrating the anatomy of its design.I like that the stainless steel material is not going to put microplastics in my food or the environment. I worried that the metal-on-metal effect would put my teeth on edge, particularly when using a knife against the stainless cutting board side. Turns out that is not a problem, and I am speaking as a person with various sensory issues. It is easily rinsed after use, though you will want to soap it up and rinse with hot water when cutting raw meat.It has a cool little knife sharpener built into the rim, and I also like this feature. The handle is also very handy, a handy handle...The back side is plastic and is also a cutting board surface, and has grating nubs for such things as ginger or garlic. I am not planning to use the reverse side on account of avoidance of microplastics.It's a pretty heavy board which has advantages and disadvantages. It is a good weight to avoid sliding around. But its heavy weight also makes it a little more of a hassle to rinse, compared to cheap plastic boards.The description says dishwasher safe, but at the time of this review I have not tried nor needed to put it into the dishwasher.Lastly, the side opposite to the handle is flat and facilitates standing it upright for storage, if you have a slim place to put it. For my kitchen it works fine leaned up against the backsplash. It looks nice enough to leave out in the open rather than hiding away. And in my opinion is the perfect footprint for cutting up vegetables and whatnot for two people.I feel this cutting board is worth the price and could potentially make a nice gift for someone who likes to cook at home, esp. a single person or couple.
