Not heavy duty but usable

These accessories aren't as hefty as the original accessories that come with the mixer, there's a huge difference in weight and build quality.The pouring shield works but the plastic is not particularly durable, already showing signs of stress after some use and washing. The shield also only works with smaller attachments like the included beater - the top of a dough hook attachment bangs into the sides. (which is a shame because this would be helpful for slowly adding flour)

doesnt work with existing mixing utensils :(

I was genuinely excited to get this shield for my 5-quart KitchenAid mixer. The idea of reducing flour mess while mixing dough was very appealing.However, I quickly ran into a significant issue: if I use the stock dough hook that came with my KitchenAid, it unfortunately comes into direct contact with the new pouring shield. This makes the shield completely useless for its intended purpose of blocking flour from escaping while mixing dough. Nowhere in the product description did it say it would work with existing stand mixer utensils, so I can't fault it for that. However, it's a real shame, as the beater paddle attachment itself seems well-made, but the poor compatibility with the standard dough hook makes the shield impractical for dough mixing. Ultimately, I am disappointed it doesn't achieve the goal I was expecting it to and will get used infrequently.

I am giving this five stars because it is well made and should work well on the correct mixer. It is, however useless for our purposes because it is only for a tilt head mixer. That is not made clear anywhere in the promotional material. Fortunately, our daughter in law has a tilt head and can use it.

So excited to find this. My previous one (another brand) had just the white surface instead of the stainless steel, and eventually started to peel. That won't happen with this one since it's stainless steel instead of a painted surface - perfect! The top for pouring is great too! The tool is wonderful for scraping the bowl as you go so that you don't have to keep stopping and scraping.

Very well made stainless steel mixing blade, ok plastic guard

I got this primarily for the mixing blade. I used it to make a boxed cake and it worked very well. I have an ancient 4 1/2 quart tilt head KitchenAid and this fits perfectly. The blade itself is made of stainless steel. The ad lists a non-stick coating, I dio not think that the metal part of the blade is coated with anything. The scraper part is nice soft thick silicone, it looks like it will last a while.The guard fits the bowl well. Another reviewer said the dough hook hits the guard, I didn't have any problem with the supplied blade and the guard. The plastic that the guard is made of doesn't look like polycarbonate so I deducted a star.
