Hands down the BEST ice cube maker. I tried silicone ones, plastic ones but this is the easiest one to use. Makes great cubes!
These work well. One did kind of fall apart I mean it held together but the pieces come undone and I had they took some difficulty to get them back in place and then it kept working again I guess I stressed it too much pulled it too hard when I was removing ice. But it's operational again now no harm. Therefore I'd say that they're pretty reliable and robust since I was I believe I abused it and then it just the parts slipped by each one another and it still worked but just barely the handle wouldn't go down all the way and then I got looking at it and realised it was the piece that is on top of the other the ice slots were not up there anymore and with some difficulty I got them back into place and it has stayed in place and operates properly again.
Please know that it only comes with one ice cube tray even though it refers to trays in the text.product works well--a bit pricey for only once tray
Forget the fancy silicone and plastic ice cube makers! This old school, nostalgic ice cube maker is so much better and easier to manage. As long as you don’t over fill the container with water (remember, water expands when frozen ;) ) you will be able to maneuver the lever easily and the ice cubes will pop out easily. Just fill approximately 3/4 of tray with water. A bit pricey but well worth it!
I am adding to my review to make it simpler for you. I use a time 9min after I pull The ice tray out. Then I use a glove(from a curling iron) my fingers & tongs to pull out the ice cubes. The tips didn’t work for me. I have 2 pieces paper towel on top of a bin(yes plastic)that I put the ice cubes in. At this point they are slightly melting. Then I get themInto the freezer. They still may stick together. I measure 1 2/3 cup of arrowhead water for each tray. I do like smaller cubes too. If you put more water in the cubes are pretty big & give more time before removing them. I now love the shape & the ice cubes stay frozen overnight in most tumblers or all day. The handle doesn’t t always law flat again. Doesn’t matter. Sometimes I wash with sudsy water, sometimes not! Up to you. I’ve Pros & Cons. Pro: Your Not adding Plastic into your body daily with stainless steelTrays & the Shapes are Nice. The Ice Tongs & fingertips come in handy. Cons: I have to master the time it takes to let the tray sit before you can lift the latch which releases the cubes. It takes longer for the ice to melt enough to lift each cube out than plastic trays. So the ice will stick together in whatever you are putting your ice in. I have a plastic tray that holds 1-3 trays. Then I have to hit the box on the counter to break the cubes up. It is not as easy as plastic or silicone to just flip & twist the trays. I use ice trays daily & I do like the ice cubes from this tray. I will try less water which should slow the rate of the cubes melting. The trays are heavy & worth the money as well.
Bought as a “nostalgia” purchase since the metal levered ice cube trays were what I grew up with. Unfortunately, these didn’t cut it. The ice cubes break up when you pull the lever (maybe if you want semi-crushed ice). Used 2 times and threw them away.
This is the way Ice cube trays should be.Large cubes. Easy pull lever.Excellent
