Does a great job, if the meat is partially frozen. If it’s too soft it’s just a mess. Concerned how the metal will hold up to cleaning over time but time will tell. Overall for the price worth it.

Unboxing review... extra sausage tube :)

This is purely an unboxing review as I just got this gvode grinder today and haven't used it yet.Sausage tubes:I was a little curious when ordering what sausage tubes it would come with as the description states only 2, but the picture showed 3. I am not a sausage maker (yet) but was ok with the two if that's what it ended up being. To my surprise, I received a 3rd one just like the photo... not sure if this is by design or not because even the box it came in says 2 stuffing tubes. G1705 is the only model number I could find on the box for what it's worth. The diameters of the tubes do not match what the description stated however. The description mentioned .45 and .68 inch diameters. What I received are .55, .70, and .93 - not sure how important that is but figured I'd mention it. My only partial complaint is that the ends of the tube may be a little sharp - not horrible by any means but you may want to be careful not to get scratched... not sure if they would actually cut a finger - you'd have to try pretty hard to get cut I think. Definitely going to want to wash them prior to first use as the insides don't seem to be as polished as the outsides.The brush included has pretty soft bristles and will likely be useless... not sure I'll keep it because I don't see it actually cleaning anything off but I didn't order this for the brush. Remember this thing is not dishwasher safe - hand wash only.The casting of the chute and auger look good and have a sold feel to them with decent weight. The 4 plates and 2 cutting knives/blades seem to be of a suitable quality and sharpness as well.The tray for the top of the chute seem reasonable also. It does not have a super tight fit to the chute so if you're expecting it to friction fit into place wherever you leave it... adjust your expectation. It's not a sloppy fit, but I would expect it to turn / rotate a little if you bump it while using it. It feels durable and up to the task it's intended for though.Overall I'm happy so far. Will update if it turns out to be a dud but I'd say 5-stars based on quality at a just under $30 price tag.

Medium Duty Grinder

EDIT: I butchered a cow last week and had the opportunity to run a lot of meat through this grinder attachment. I realized my earlier assessment was a bit harsh. Before, I was grinding into tubular bags, using the largest size sausage stuffer. The stuffer tube was too small. My other grinder had a much larger tube that unfortunately doesn't fit this one. When I ground directly out the die instead of pushing the meat through a tube, the problems with clogging went away and it ran well. Maybe not quite as strong as the Bosch, but the Bosch is a larger diameter grinder so it's no surprise that it handles more. I also used this attachment to stuff about 50lbs of sausage. It worked well for that. Very few air bubbles. I had to stop and clean it out twice because the stuffer attachment plate has three crossbars that accumulate fibrous stuff and eventually clog the end of the auger.Here's my old review, modified to remove some incorrect complaints.If you are grinding moderate amounts of meat, this grinder should do the job. The consumer level grinder I can compare it against is the grinder attachment for a Bosch mixer that I have used for the past 16 years. I have put thousands of pounds of meat through it. That grinder will power through stuff that bogs this one down, but this one does get the job done if you treat it right.We butchered a few deer recently. We had two grinders running at the same time, side by side. I was filling those tubular plastic bags, so I had sausage stuffer tubes mounted on the grinders for filling bags. The Bosch had a giant tube that I use for this job and for stuffing summer sausage. This one had the largest size tube it came with, which was smaller. At first I was disappointed with this grinder, because the Bosch, whose power head is almost ready to die, was easily producing 3 times what this one did. It was the stuffer tube who was the culprit. Meat with moderate amounts of silver skin or sinew plugged it very quickly and I had to disassemble the head and clean it out every 8-10lbs on average. The old grinder ate 60lbs of the exact same trim without having to be cleaned.Luckily I ran out of bags and pulled the stuffer tube off when I unexpectedly had to butcher a cow. Then I saw that this grinder actually does work pretty well if you don't have a stuffer tube putting back pressure on the grind.This grinder is easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean. It appears to be solid and produces a nice grind. A nit I have with it is that the post on the front of the auger gets very tightly wound with sinew after a while, and it takes fingernails longer than mine to clean it off.All in all, a decent grinder attachment. Now I need to find a larger tube so I can grind directly into bags with it.
