    Poor quality

    The silicone flex edge is too narrow and too firm to effectively scrape down the bowl. Also, the stainless steel edges are poorly polished. You can see divots and unfinished edges where the metal joins. These unfinished edges will definitely grab dough and batter instead of sliding off as you want with a smooth edge.

    An improvement on the original!

    I’m honestly a little confused by some of the reviews saying this paddle doesn’t scrape the bowl, because my experience (and it looks like a few others) has been the complete opposite — it fits perfectly and scrapes just like it should.For context, my KitchenAid tilt-head mixer is almost 30 years old. It’s been used fairly regularly over the years, but it’s also been a really solid machine with minimal wear and tear. I finally replaced my original flat beater because it was the older white powder-coated metal and after nearly three decades it had gotten chipped in a few spots. I also had to replace the original whisk attachment after I accidentally ruined it when a spatula fell into the bowl while it was running (user error, totally).This replacement paddle is just as good as the original, and for me it’s actually an improvement — no coating to chip into food, and the stainless steel feels sturdy and easy to clean. The silicone edge on mine makes good contact with the bowl and does exactly what I wanted it to do: it helps pull ingredients in and reduces how often I have to stop and scrape down the sides.My best guess is that the “doesn’t scrape” issue might come down to mixer model differences, bowl variations, or even needing a minor clearance adjustment on the mixer (since older machines can vary a tiny bit). But in my case, it clicked right in, clears the bowl properly, and performs like the KitchenAid beater I’ve trusted for years.If you have a compatible 4.5–5 qt tilt-head model and you’re replacing an old chipped coated beater, this is a great upgrade
