A very nice salad preparation set to make salad preparation easier and quicker.
We're blessed to live in an area in which grocery stores consistently carry an abundant supply of fresh produce, so lunch is often a fresh garden salad. This salad spinner and vegetable cutter should reduce the time required to assemble a salad. As I unpacked and examined the various components, I noticed some black marks inside the stainless-steel bowl. The shiny surface made it a little difficult to see and read the markings, but they are volume and servings markings. A single black line is marked for fractional cups on the left and servings on the right. I used an individual half cup measuring cup to check the markings in the salad bowl and found them to be reasonably accurate. Close may be close enough for measuring a salad. The spinner basket sets on a free-floating spindle that must be in the bottom of the stainless bowl before spinning. Spindle in the bottom, basket on the spindle, rinsed salad greens in the basket and you're ready to place the top and begin spin-drying the greens. There's enough clearance to be able to pour off spun-out water without lifting the spinner basket out of the bowl, but you have to take the basket out to get the spindle out, anyway. The spinner worked very well for me.Once the greens are spun-dry, they can be dumped back into the empty bowl. The mandoline vegetable slicer lid can be placed on the bowl and one or more of the slicing knives can be locked into place for slicing. I tested the knives with a carrot reasoning that's probably the hardest vegetable that I would be slicing. The vegetable shuttle or "safety fixator" is used to hold vegetables safely while cutting, and I felt it was a bit too shallow. I tried three different knives and they all worked well, but I didn't get very many slices because of the depth of the vegetable holder. After cutting the rest of my salad items, I washed the slicer. I know that carrots have a reputation for staining plastic cutting utensils, so I wasn't too surprised that the mandoline slicer and blades were lightly stained. I've read that lemon juice or sunlight can sometimes lift the stains. It would be nice to not have the stains, but I'd rather have nutritious meals, even if they leave some utensils stained. My wife and I both like the Stainless-Steel Salad Spinner and Vegetable Slicer set, and we both feel it's well designed (except for the depth of the vegetable shuttle) and made from good quality materials that should last through years of use. Five stars is our rating.

Truly Multiple Kitchen Tools in One!
I've been meaning to buy a salad spinner for so long, and I'm so glad I procrastinated until this product came along! This is truly a multi-use tool and to just call it a salad spinner doesn't do it justice AT ALL.It didn't come with an instruction booklet, and there are lots of pieces, so at first I found it a bit overwhelming. However, now that I've taken the time to really look at it and use it, the pictures on the side of the box are more than adequate and it's really quite simple:If you're cooking or baking or whatever and need a nice size stainless steel bowl? You have one with this! And it even has pre-marked measurements on the inside AND a non-slip rubbery base on the outside; If you need to wash and rinse fruits and vegetables? It's a colander; If you don't want to wait for those fruits, vegetables, etc. to dry or to have to dry them off with the paper towel? It's a salad spinner; If you need to juice a lemon, lime, etc? It's a little juicer; And finally, instead of reaching for a knife, or other slicer/chopper/grater tool? This is all of those things combined into one!I took separate pictures of the different configurations this "salad spinner" can take on. And again, calling it a salad spinner is really a disservice! One thing is for sure, the next person who invites me to their bridal shower or house warming party is definitely getting one of these as their gift! Especially if you love and/or need to have space-saving kitchen tools in your home, this is the one to buy! Very, very happy with this and as a side note, I also love the muted green color.

Everything you need to make your own fresh salad!
Unboxing this was exciting....it was one item after another after another. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was there were no instructions. That said, it was pretty easy to figure out how to use it and put it together.I washed all parts- the stainless steel bowl which I loved BTW- because it has a rubber bottom to keep it from slipping! AND it has measurements printed on the inside of the bowl- bonus! I handwashed carefully all the slicing attachments and got ready to make my salad. At store bagged salads costing anywhere from $2 and up, I figured that I could make my own at home and save money. A head of lettuce cost me $2 and a head of red cabbage costs $2 a pound. A small bag of carrots cost $1.79 so I am ready to save money.I put the spinner together and tossed in the lettuce. Then I put the attachment lid on and put the slicer attachment and grated some cabbage into the bowl. I also did the same with a carrot. I put some water in the bowl, put the spinner attachment and spun away. After a few rotations, I dumped out the water and voila- I had my own FRESHLY made salad that wasn't bagged and made to order. All the parts seem sturdy. The color reminds me of the 1970's green my parents had on their kitchen gadgets and I love it! All the parts fit into the bowl for storage. This will be a much used item in my kitchen.

Could be better quality
OK takes up a lot of space but love it! Directions could be better. It's hard because the two tops don't stack for easy storage BUT works great for what you're using it for!
